It was a Wednesday night, Thursday was a public holiday and our good friend Rod was leaving Indonesia the following week. The night started at his house, he lives at the Four Seasons which is a five star hotel and apartment. I cannot explain in words how plush this place is. Anyway all drinks and food were catered for so I got stuck into the Southern Comfort and Coke. We stayed there for about 2 hours before the booze ran dry and the food was cold. A large debate broke out about where we were going but we finally settled on a place called X lounge.
The 18th floor of Plaza Semanggi was home to this executive style night club full of the young hip and rich crowd (think the Hilton sisters of Indonesia) and also some of the most beautiful women you will ever see. You have to reserve a lounge for your group and have to drink a minimum of 2 million rp (US $200) worth of alcohol. We didn’t see this as being an issue so we ordered a bottle of vodka with a jug of lemon and 6 glasses. As the night progressed more beautiful women arrived and the drinks kept flowing, the view from the window looked out over the toll road and the Semanggi intersection you could mistake yourself for being in L.A. The toilets were also impressive; there was a mini screen television that had a feed from the upstairs club called Vertigo.
When I saw this club I had to go and check it out so I grabbed Rod and we went upstairs to evaluate the female situation. Two laps around Vertigo and we decided the lounge was a bit more our thing so we headed back downstairs where Rod had his eye on a girl and I had to get back to the table before my operation was sprung.
Later in the night I realized how much this club values its service to the patron. Being in such a drunken state, I fell off the sofa onto my ass in the middle of the thoroughfare before being quickly aided by one of the waiters who ran over and grabbed my drink before I spilled anything. I congratulated him on his quick reaction time and left a large tip.
The next day I awoke with quite a hangover and events of the evening are still coming back to me in bits and pieces.
