Had a bad experience with a broken auto? What about a good experience?
What was the make, model and year of the vehicle in question, engine size and what was the problem associated with it? What was the solution to the problem? Still need a solution? I'm a work at home auto mechanic and what prompted me to start this particular blog was a problem that I had encountered while working on a 1996 T-bird with a 4.6 V-8 fuel injected non-turbo 2-door coupe. Needless to say I installed the engine in this vehicle (very successful) and in other areas came upon a couple of questions that maybe someone with the same vehicle could possibly put my mind to rest about. The first question: The fuel pump on this model is electric (all fuel injected engines) and it makes a humming sound when activated (normal) but the question is , should I be hearing it? from the drivers seat? Initially the pump was changed because of being noisy, periodic stalling, as well as hard starting. The fuel filter and certain other components in the fuel system were already changed prior to the pump replacement. I didn't seem to notice the humming after installation but it was brought to my attention after delivery was taken.
The second question associated with this same vehicle is the transmission. It is an automatic with overdrive and It's not upshifting automatically (when accelerator is depressed to the floor) instead it kind of bogs and slowly picks up speed. I was told that this transmission is or has electronic features in it and could be the cause of the problem however I did use an additive to try and relieve what the problem but this is day 4 and there was no change. Any comments on this blog is appreciated.
Thanks
