*I'm going to preface this with the explanation that I am a hardcore weather fanatic. I have a personal weather station on my roof that uploads weather data to the internet. My neighbors and friends often come to me and ask if the published weather reports are accurate.
Anyway, last night we had some WILD weather. I checked the radar right before bed which showed a squall line to our north, but not extending as far south as my location. When my son woke up for his midnight feeding, I checked the radar again and noticed the weather starting to appear just to our west and told my DH that we'd probably be getting some good thunderstorms in about an hour. Sure enough, around 1am, we got our very own four-hour-long fireworks show compliments of mother nature.
Have any of you experienced this? We got a lightening clap so bright and loud, and then everything in my bedroom turned ON. My bedside touch-lamp and my TV turned on. I was like, WTF? I'm surprised that a surge strong enough to turn stuff on didn't blow a circuit.
The lightening sparked several fires around town. Several house and apartment fires. I read one story about a family that saw/heard the lightening/thunder and then smelled smoke. By the time they got out of the house, fire was coming out some windows. Can you imagine? That is one of my worst fears and the reason I can't sleep naked. I'm so afraid that something will happen in the middle of the night to where I'd have to run out into the street in my skivvies.
