I am a proud, Visa-holding, temporary citizen of Tallinn, Estonia.  This country's past, present, and future are fascinating to me.  A recent article in Time magazine touches on a number of reasons why I hold this opinion. Some quotes:

"The economy, once a basket case, is now one of Europe's most dynamic, racing along at a 12% growth clip — faster than China."

"You can use your mobile phone to pay for parking your car, buy bus tickets and check your        children's school grades."

"It was the first former Soviet republic to introduce its own currency, and the first European country to adopt a flat tax system, now widely copied in the rest of Eastern Europe."

"'We're just halfway,' says Prime Minister Andrus Ansip, whose aim is for Estonia to become one of the five wealthiest E.U. nations on a per-capita basis in the next 15 years."

"Foreign money is pouring in and now totals more than $12 billion."

In a recent issued of The Economist Estonia was also mentioned as the fastest growing former-Soviet country and the one with the least corrupt goverment.

All this is happening in a tiny country with just over 1 million citizens that has only had its independence for 15 years!!  It's a great time to live in this country...so much change, so much excitement!!

Check out the article in Time.
