Jaede pretended to browse one of Mesk's droid-like vendors in the tent she had entered. She casually perused the offerings on the vendor, but really was not paying attention to what was being offered.
She was focusing all her senses on her surroundings.
Out of the corner of her eye, Jaede saw Kia walk by. It was more like a little skip step. Jaede chuckled to herself, "that girl has gumption."
"KiKi...her friends call her KiKi" came unbidden into Jaede's head.
Jaede shook her head and refocused her senses, searching for what was amiss. She could sense something, just beyond her reach, but it slipped away before she could get a feel for it. Jaede turned slghtly so she could get a better view from the opening of the vendor tent. As she turned, however, something happened. Her world tilted and hazed purple.
"Damn, I've been poisoned," she thought.
Any minute, Jaede expected her arms and legs to go numb, and her heartbeat to slow and stop; she wasn't sure where the poison came from and she could not sense and opponent. Jaede's eyes grew heavier and the interior of the tent darkened before her; she feel to her knees, gasping, but realizing that her arms and legs were not numb; she could move them. But her limbs did not seem to want to obey her brain.
"Sweet Fancy Moses," she muttered, as she slowly lost all focus.
"Jaedewitch," came the voice.
"Where am I?" Jaede thought. She could see, feel or sense nothing. There was just purple haze.
A shadow crossed the purple haze, darkening it, and Jaede tried to focus on that shadow, large and round.
"Jaedewitch, you must seek her; seek her for me; seek Miryia for all that was lost; seek her for Alderaan."
"I am here, but I do not understand; why must I seek Miryia?"
Jaede saw little pinpoints of light begin to dance around the shadow, and Alderaan as she once was, a beautiful burgeoning planet, came in to view.
"For me, you must find Miryia; part of your destiny is to find the witch. She will know what to do when you find her. Jaede, you must find a way to help Miryia, for Alderaan, for my memory, for my people, for all we have lost."
"I will find Miryia; whatever it takes, I will find her."
Light exploded in Jaede's head and her surroundings came back in to focus; she was still inside the merchant tent. She lurched outside and vomited just past the steps, for visions such as these, when they came, were powerful and made her nauseous afterwards. She doubled over and puked violently once more, her head still swimming.
Straightening, Jaede wiped her mouth and thought to herself, "Good thing I didn't puke on the floor of the vendor tent. Mesk would probably smack me with those famous mind-poison pikes of his."
"Okay, so I need to seek Miryia."
Jaede gazed around the dusty landscape and realized she was parched.
"But first, I need a drink."
She strode swiftly toward the cantina, first to refresh herself and then to assess her next move."
This decision would prove fateful.....
