My daughter's first birthday party is tomorrow. I want to make it something extremely special. The whole concept of the party is to celebrate how she has grown and how she will continue to grow. I'll have a table setup displaying a collection of pics of her from the hospital until now. I am creating a time capsule (will be given to her on her 16th birthday) to be filled with warm sentiments from family and friends at the party. Then I have something I'm calling Pretty as a Picture - You are so special. I'll have her picture encased in a craft frame that has a large border that will be used so that everyone can write why she is special to them or why they love her, which will then be framed and placed in her room. Then I am making a growth chart out of some old scrap sheetrock my husband has lying around the house. I think we will make it a tradition to mark the board at each birthday party. I know she won't remember any of this but for some reason it is extremely important to me to make a big deal out of it.
I still have so much to do before tomorrow. I'm afraid she's getting sick, and I'm feeling pretty puny myself. Wish me luck.
