I haven't had a child, I have never broken a bone, I have never been hospitalized, I have never been physically injured from a car accident, I have never been shot.

I have never actually experienced any type of immense pain, so why is it that a few rubber bands, and some metal glued to my teeth brings me to my knees in pain for two days? I am starting to get scared about the pains of childbirth and broken bones and what not...

I was finally able to say "I am getting my braces off today", but when I got to the office for my appointment, my orthodontist handed me a little baggie of rubber bands (It has a manatee on it!!) and another appointment in two weeks.

My teeth havent been worked on in a while, so that the teeth can have time to 'settle' into their new position. I had a complete realignment of both my upper and lower jaws, so my teeth needed time to adjust. Now I have two rubber bands on either sides of my mouth holding my jaws together, trying to close up two minor gaps that the ortho found. I had cried all the rest of the day and downed nearly half a bottle of maximum strength Pamprin.

For those of you interested in commenting, what was the most intense pain you had ever felt?

One of the most excrutiating pains I have experienced was when the blood clots following my wisdom tooth extractions broke down so I effectively had open wounds in my mouth. I could have kissed the dentist when he administered a local anaesthetic to dull the pain.

Having an endometriotic cyst burst isn't much fun either and that one had me pass out.

But I do also recall the pain from having my braces tightened too and that makes me wince in sympathy for you.

Hehe... yea. I think that I would be terrified of any other type of pain. The worst two parts of my braces treatment was when they stuck little rubber bands BETWEEN the teeth, in order to create gaps for the braces. They had to basically slice the two teeth apart, get into the gum, and slide a littl expander band in there.

The second was when the orthodontist discovered that my top jaw was not wide enough for my bottom to align perfectly, so he installed an expander, which was two plates with a turn dial in between, and every night I had to lay on my back with my mouth open and have someone crank that wheel two times. so that it could seperate the jawbone. I was laying in bed crying for an hour every night after they did that.

Me too!! I remember the pain of braces all too well!! But, childbirth was definitely the worst. They messed around too long for me to have any sort of pain medication, my bones cracked and seperated. I don't know why I chose to have a second child!! LOL!! And stepping on a scorpionfish was a close second. They are razor sharp and inject crap into your body. My foot was enormous and it felt like my bones were exploding. I begged them to cut my leg off but they wouldn't.

oh wow. Bones cracking during childbirth??? You gotta explain that one to me.... O.O

I once dropped an oxygen bottle on my toe, it was on a concrete
floor, wow, that hurt almost as much as being shot.

Life itself is no bed of roses. An endless  pain till the very end. People are undergoing tremendous pains in the hospitals we cannot even imagine. I suffered a lot of pain in my teeth because of having contracted pyorrhea. I had to get almost 4 to 5 teeth extracted at one go. I bore thr brunt bravely and did not allow the pain to overpower me. We humans have a body prone to unknown number of diseases  But of all the pains the most agonising pain is the pain of separation of the near and dear ones. Father died on 8th Jan., Elder brother  a Doctor followed him on the 28th Jan, just as the wounds of mental pain healed up  my wife died on the 20th May and all this in a span of five months of the same year. The pain was so acute that I decided to forget them to carry on with life for the sake of my kids. The worst of all the pains is the ingratitude of my brother and sisters whom I have served with utmost sincerity only to be dubbed as a ruffian.

One day, I experienced an excruciating pain in my belly which hindered me from standing and walking. I eventually got operated on: it was appendicitis. :(

Hmm...I think childbirth takes the cake on this one, although the iv I got just before they administered Pitocin was almost worse, at least as far as sudden, intense pain I wasn't expecting. I'm pretty good with needles, a regular donor (when not pregnant, lol) to the Red Cross. But that iv hurt SO MUCH, OMG!

And of course she botched it and had to pull it out and try again. I was biting my lip to keep from screaming at the poor nurse, who was disconcerted enough as it was by the mega-tears rolling down my face. I didn't cry during the rest of childbirth, if that tells you anything at all!

I remember the pain of braces and having my wisdom teeth extracted well.  It's not the worst pain I have experienced in my life.  But I think the pain of adding those rubber bands is unlike other pain in that it radiates through all of your teeth, your jaw and your face.

Having wisdom teeth extracted is like that.  Plus, you get to look like someone beat you up from the bruising and swelling sometimes.

Childbirth, for me, wasn't painful in and of itself because I had a C-section, so everything was numb. The pain after a C-section wasn't all that bad to me.  I only used my drip for the rest of the afternoon after the C-section then refused it and switched to just extra-strength Tylenol the next day.

The worst pain I have ever experienced in my life was the result of several injuries all at once that I have described elsewhere both in one of my own blog entries What's Missing and in a comment in Silverswhisper's The Nature of Life blog entry.  Bascially, I had 4 broken ribs, a broken collar bone, a dislocated shoulder, and over 270 stitches in my body. I also had my head split open.

Recovering from a C-section, btw, was a cakewalk after that.

Because sometimes I’m a real hard (dumb) ass sometimes, once I had several stitches in my hand with no pain killers. I recommend trying it; pain can teach us about our selves.

I think that I can endure any physical pain although I haven't been severly injured nor have I gotten braces. But most of the pain I felt are emotional pain.  This type of pain is really difficult because you cannot take pain relievers to ease the pain.  You just have to get over it and try to learn from that painful experience.

I fell off a ladder in May 06 and broke 3 ribs on my right side....It hurt bad for months. I couldn't sneeze, cough, laugh or do much of anything. What I did do was learn about blogging as I had to sit up all the time. So that's when I created my blogs at blogger and have been doing it ever since. While the pain was bad,  I would never have taken the time to discover blogging had I not been stuck in a chair.

I've experienced childbirth, both natural and C-section.  The worse pain, by far is pain from a kidney infection.  Kidney pain is sharp and unrelenting.  It feels like a knife going through you from back to front.

I never had braces, but I watched my daughter struggle through it.  Hope it eases for you soon.

While this is a bit of a tough one, I think I can recall a couple things. I cant stand pain coming from the mouth. Tooth aches and all that, gawd. Minus there was one time, it was horrid. For some reason I just sat there for a minute, thought about it. (i.e. pain) and decided it would no longer hurt. It stopped. lol Tripped me out, havent been able to do it again either.
I think for me though, there have been 2 different times, it was bad enough I was on the border of just bawling. Some sort of backpain, which not a single doctor has been able to figure out yet. And the other was a migrane. Which these are starting to become more frequent too. Not sure whats the cause there either.

I gotta say though, man, dealing with those braces crap... Id never be able to pull it off... ach

headaches are the worst especially if they are accompanied by shooting pains below your eyebrows, I I used to suffer from these , thought they were something serious , but doctor couldn't figure out what was wrong , so i just ignore them instead of fretting around , also strong balms help reduce the pain

Yall are making me have sympathy pains... Yikes.

The braces got better I guess the pain is never so bad after it if over...

Emotional pain is definitely bad, but I am afraid that some would say the medicine for that is prozac.

Nausea is quite horrible as well, though not too painful per say.

On a camping trip, I went down a valley away from the other campers to take a pee. I was just getting started when I slipped and fell forwards on to some jagged volcanic rocks which ripped open my knees and my own pee seeped on to the gashes. Pain is such a short word to describe the feeling.

A while back there was some jerk online that gave me a hard time while I was trying to figure out who the other person in the town I was living was that was using my name in their email account. I don't quite know why I was getting harassed so severely,...
Mr Fantastic emailed me and texted me. He's on the road heading to somewhere.

I emailed Mr Black and Mr. childish and told them it's over and to back off forever.
This is going to suck.

Loads of physical pain today......
You can answer this question for me....
now I have to wait for the HMO to approve the scan and then wait another two weeks to get an appointment....
I am so sorry to everyone I should have been in touch with. . ....
