Here it is... after a small delay... or a large one... depending on your relative perspective on time... :p
An actual update.

Since I last posted, I've shot 2 more rolls of film (thats 3 total). I still haven't viewed the first roll however...

Long story short, due to the set up costs it's cheaper to transfer in 'bulk', if you will, than it is to pay for multiple set ups for transfer of film to digital. Sooo... I shot 2 more rolls of film and sent them to be developed.

One of the reels of film didn't like me and while I was shooting it decided to jam... several times... insert sheepish look

The film developers managed to save it... after performing over 50 splices. which equates out to about one splice for every 2 feet of film. yes, that is a lot... *yikes*

In other news, our documentary was completed on time barely and was shown on schedule. yeah! Where it was mistaken for something that had been done by the History Chanel. :D
which made me feel all warm and fuzzy.

We've also doubled the size of our crew, its now over 20, and we haven't even started casting yet...

Exciting times.... exciting times....
Unless your reading my blog and wondering wtf, is he dead or something? Or, like SL and probably contemplating ways to make me type... sorry it took so long.:(

2 feet is about 3.3 seconds.... give or take a tenth of a second or two...

but that's an average for the entire roll, most of the splices are done where it jams and when film jams, it does a fair impression of a paper accordian... so you get something like 10-20 over a couple inches where ever it jams.

your developers get paid on the basis of work done, don't they? yikes...

yup... and given that they are probably used to working with bigger studios and more important footage than test rolls it's understandable that they tried really hard to 'save' as much of the film as they could... before calling us.

If it was footage from a full on shoot, paying to get the film spliced would have saved a butt load of money, as we wouldn't have had to re-do the entire shoot... however, it was a test roll to see how the camera performed, the only cost was my time and the raw stock.

Fortunetly it wasn't that much money...
