It is just me, or is there no one here anymore?

I've come to the conclusion that SoulCast is on it's way down. Probably due to the fact that it's too tricky to actually make any really money on it, which was given as the main reason for people to sign up in the first place.

Perhaps, it could all be turned around without too much trouble and brought back to life. I, like many others do like soulcast, but not for the reasons we initially joined up. We like it simply because it's become a tight little fun community.

This is now it's single most valuable asset, why not make some tweaks and bring it back to life, with community at it's heart?!

Come on guys, we're still here for ya! ;)

Hey mrhowto,

Long time no see. I was wondering where you were. Anyway, about SC, we've all been asking the same question. There have been many posts about it too.

You're right though. It's getting a bit quieter, but thankfully, not dead yet :) Some days it's better, some days it's like today. Page 1 of the featured page with only a few comments.

Anyway, good to have you back :)

Cheers!

Hey missb,

Thanks, nice to see you still here too, as well as a few familiar faces. Just thought it would be polite to make a post again after a while.

Will try to keep it up, helps to keep us all sane ;)

Well, I cannot speak for everyone else, of course, but time has been a huge factor for me. My work hours are different, and my oldest son is in school, so my obligations have changed.

I spent the last week on hiatus. My BlackBerry browser was slow or not responding--and I am in something of a depressed snit.

I still like SoulCast, though. I tend to agree, though: it IS very quiet here.

Man, it'll be a sad day when I'm the only person left in Soulcast blabbing to myself and commenting on my own blogs.

It hasn't happened yet, but it's well on the way, I think.

Hi there.

I'm fairly new here,so....Hello!

That said, I'm 'not' new to this blogging experience. In fact,I've been blogging for three years now, so I know all about the close knit writing community of which you talk of.
And I'm relieved to hear there is such a thing here, considering the lack of inspiration I felt after signing up here, looking around and considering this my second blog.

I thought over and over again last night of how the many of you talented writers were put to waste here, when mere steps away in my home on journalspace you could thrive quite nicely.
Among many other very talented writers and published authors.
Wth a few lessons on my blogs layout a few years back,I was able to personalize my blog wth scenic photo's,chat board, and the occassionaly music video, and much more. You could to,instead of looking at the mundane colors of black and white here.
But then again you could say,"hm" its the writing that is most important, not the bells and whistles, which is no other choice but your own. Many at journalspace have basic blogs.

Just a thought, and sorry for it being so long.I just wish for the many of you to gain the fullest experience with your writing with as many opportunities as myself:)

Dee~

Mrhowto:
Yes it does appear that Soulcast is beginning to fail, and as you put it, the main reason that people were led to sign up in the first place was to make money.
To be repeatedly insulted on a daily basis with earnings of 0 to .03 cents can be at minimum an insult to the integrity of Soulcast. As for Google Ad cents, they should bury their heads under rocks!

Anyway, like you, I do like Soulcast for the fun community it is.

As a side note: I found what the new SW had to say quite interesting.

I like it here, I think the site needs to be tweaked to be more successful
• silentwhisper said on Oct 17, 2006....
And with that I worried.I knew the some of you were pleasantly comfortable with your own writing community here,I understand that feeling fully,as I'm comfortable with mine but ventured out nonetheless. And by all means I didn't want to step on anyone's toes. That said, this isn't the only blog site of which I explored and looked upon with dissapointment, there's many out there that could use a little something to 'keep' the members inspired rather than allure them to a no man's land of nothings.

I found this site slow.Really slow to be honest. In fact the image of a hamster on a wheel came to mind.I won't apologize for that because the over 30,000 members at JS. wouldn't stand for it,as we've always had such promptness and respect from the owners.

Also? Why am I limited to words on my post? I had to chop down my last post and it wasn't even long.Hm..right there a person would want to back up and leave. But,sighs,I'm still here, going back and forth.

BTW? The money was what attracted me here, but I wasn't surprised at what people were saying about the lack of.

I do hope that by being here for the some of you it doesn't discourage you to continue to write, because I believe the many of you truly have a talent. That too said,I'll linger a little longer here,if anything to bring back hope:)

A good evening to you all~

Hi Everyone. I have just signed up for SoulCast and I have come to discover that this is really a big community. As for making money here mrhowto. It does have a potential being as big as it is.

There are a few points however I wish to clarify here:

1. SoulCast uses Google AdSense to make money. As such, if we are to make money here we need to understand how AdSense works. It is true that AdSense can "Ad cents" as Frlncwrtr but it can also "Ad Dollars". The key is keywords. Keywords ultimately decide whether a click will give you cents or dollars. SoulCast does not give us the liberty to controll our Ad targeting. Too bad for us. (I have to comment them for doing a nice thing in optmising the ads however).
2. Click Through Rates. The other thing I noticed right away. While SoulCity can deliver a lot of traffic to your postings, the click through rates on the adverts are likely to be low here. Why? There is a lot of content here, so much to read that we turn a blind eye to the ads! In this case we are to blame not SoulCity.

Obviously the first draw was the promise of making a little extra money. I immediately realized, that is never going to happen because that Adsense is a crock. I was an avid Myspacer for quite awhile and would blog there but I really couldn't say everything I wanted since my friends would read them and sometimes I blog about things I don't want them to read about, and I had people I worked with on there and definately didn't want them to know such personal things. I like the fact I can blog about anything on here without wondering if it's going to get back to my boss. I have cancelled my Myspace account since. I haven't really utilized my MSN Space either. I just like to blog, I'm not in it for the money. But I don't know anyone who knows SoulCast exists. They do need another draw besides offering the opportunity to "make money" because once a lot of people realize they won't make anything but a couple cents will quit and go somewhere else.
• HalGal said on Nov 04, 2006....
I should also add that if I don't feel like anyone even cares about my blogs and doesn't read or comment I would feel I needed to go somewhere else because the fun of blogging is the fact you are putting it out there for the world to read right? Otherwise you'd keep a journal under your pillow...

There is a new site that is up and coming and still in beta, it is called Yuwie. It is free but you earn money by posting (from ad revenue sharing). It is a lot like myspace, but I find it easier to use. check it out.
