Visited my friend’s blog website today. As I sifted through the familiar rants and raves, the generic profiles, and the superficial musings about why metrosexuals are growing in number, it hit me like a ton of highly charged blog comments. There wasn’t a website out there whose premise was to form a community that focused on meaningful bonds and extraordinary experiences and just let people be real about themselves. There’s got to be more to blogging, right? Note to self: get others involved in this idea.

Personally Honestly im still workin out what a blog is. I just seem to suffer more mind bogglin experiences. After a few beers i end up on sites like these. Not always intentionally. But honestly i feel as welcome as a fart in an astronaughts suit. Jaygee

you are the king of bloggers man
  • purple77 said on Jun 25, 2006....
You had a good point there. There has to be more to life than blogging. Blogging is a way that people can type out their thoughts as if it was a personal diary, but with a lot of people reading what you wrote. You do not have to worry about fme. I am as real as you can get. You are right about one thing though, blogging should have a lot of meaning, instead of talking about what one person saw on television, or heard about it on the news or radio. Those are okay topics, but there has to be some sort of intelligent feedback to go with it.
  • MeRrYMiA said on Jun 26, 2006....
heyy, i am all about the meaning ~ who can deny the desire to want to make bonds and connections with people. I am in the same boat as Jaygee lol in that I am a nubee and dont know how to navigate around this site very well but, i say we start somethin up!
  • cristina529 said on Jul 05, 2006....
I completely agree. Blogging should be about sharing a common intelligence and creativity and being able to enjoy feedback. ;-) tina
  • party said on Jul 06, 2006....
good very good indeed - if we are going express our hard earned values and intelligence to further the interests of our community only if it is decent and not offending[---thats for anonymity---] we may become useful to each other
  • MRleester said on Jul 17, 2006....
I agree with you completley... take a look at what i wrote, maybe there are some similarities to what we both might view on this whole blogging thing.

I already have a blog on MSN Spaces but can't earn money on it even though I've already had almost 2000 hits since I began a few months ago. Here, everytime I see an ad on someone's blog, I click at least one of them- share the love people! Click ads! My MSN blog is just me ranting and raving and I tend to love the abuse thrown at me so feel free to leave an abusive comment (and click an ad!)

    What inspired the name Soulcast?
  • yankee328 said on Aug 09, 2006....
everyone is shallow. okay, i'm being dumb. seriously, now, it depends on the sorts of people you come across. already on soulcast i found a person who was blogging about the chinese philsopher lao tzu, i've come across others who talk about ceramics and other things (although the ceramics seem to be terribly, terribly dull). so far it's been interesting. although i wish some people would show my pages some love.
  • threetablesbeach said on Aug 16, 2006....
I blog about fishing and kids. Fairly mundane stuff, but there are good stories and lessons in those subjects. You just have to be able to pick out the nuggets and share them, in not too many words.
  • Danj3ris said on Aug 16, 2006....
There is more out there. And believe it or not it involves not blogging. Because when you are not blogging, you are in the midst of actually "doing" the "more". Like I've been trying to make a true social networking site, yes I know, ANOTHER one. And if I say "oh no! This one will be different! Trust me!" you will most likely say that you've heard it before and pay me no mind, and go on about your merry way. But I'd love to make this site, as it would expose people to "the more" and actually get people to make "the more". No, it isn't called "TheMoreZone". It has a name, it has a plan, it has mock-ups. What it doesn't have is coders. Anyone wanting to do a little 'free' coding? To get "the more" into the minds of "the many"? Lets talk business people. A "real" site.

Wish I knew more about ' blogging ' . I'm a newbie to this concept and learning on a daily basis but still coming to grips with the concept of blogging. It still seems to me like the old fashioned diary but done in a public media.
The idea of sharing thoughts and feelings...not to mention getting to know people and their thoughts and convictions even if it is under ficticious names...is not new and always interesting because it's our nature for most of us to be social and in today's world of work and busy schedules what better way to meet people...and their opinions...than from the comfort of your own home via the internet.
I still have to start my own blog page and will as soon as I figure out how to and what to put in it. Does anybody know what exactly is a metrosexual? and how is it transmited?...
But that's not as important as the media that can actually bring us strangers together and start sharing life experiences...if it can be done on a level playing field of trust, truth and honesty then it will be truly a worthwhile experience.
God Bless and may the Light shine brightly on your road of Life.

Today is my first day on Soul Cast.  This post "There's got to be more out there..." caught my interest.  Too many bloggers in cyberspace spew anger, vitriole and discontent.  Apparently, this anger has reached hysterical levels.  Meaningful dialogue among people is overshadowed and in many cases received with swearing and hurtful language.  I have found this a common practice reading blogs on www.Digg.com.

True discourse, thoughtful commentary and insight are either hard to find or nil.  The orignial poster on this topic issued a call-to-action to contribute useful discussion surrounding topics of interest to everyone or to most participating in this forum.  Because I am new to SoulCast, my value proposition is the pursuit of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.  This means you will not find profanity, anger, hate or derision written in haste and posted to anyone's blog.

This medium, identified as social network is a throw-back to a concept introduced in 1954 where people attempted to reclaim an antiquated custom of letter writing which predated telephones, telegraphs, wireless and trains.  Then, people seemed to exercise a high degree of respect for the  thought and humanity of other human beings.  Contributing to a blog is akin to visiting someone's home - in my view.  If the goal of this site is to generate income for contributors, I think it is in our collective interest to contribute something of value.

I hope to read and learn a great deal from this community.  Not yet finding my topic niche, I welcome ideas and possibilities from SoulCast contributors wishing to share their insights.  However, if I am in the wrong space for this goal, I hope someone will tell me, kindly, to move along.  I am open for that too.

Thank you all for the time you take to read my thoughts and here's hoping for a uniquely positive and enjoyable experience in Cyberspace at SoulCast.

From what I gather, blog is a pretty safe environment for you so say thing that usually would not as you are more sensitive about what people think of you. Out here your ident could be clouded behind the internet and therefore be more brutal about what you mean. Hey life is tough, who care about the little sissy that hidden in one corner. out here everyone wants to be a hero. So speak for what you firmly believe and not that of the general public.
  • frontierman said on Dec 11, 2006....
It seems that the people with the most comments have the most infective and most cuss words.  Doesn't anyone have a good idea anymore?  It's been said that nothing can stop an idea whose time has come/  Do you have to be radical to be read and commented on.  I'm still waiting for any comments on anything I've written and frankly its pretty boring.
  • silverwhisper said on Dec 11, 2006....
frontierman, i can tell you why nobody comments. nobody knows that you exist.

the best way to let people know you exist is to tell them by commenting on other people's blog entries. look at featured blog entries or maybe search for current blogs entries that address tags that interest you. that's how you become part of the community, and accordingly, that's how the community learns you're out there.

".....and just let people be real about themselves."

I quote the question (in part) and want to share a site where members come to post on whatever they like.  The rules are lax and they claim never to ban anyone.  It's like this blog in that respect.  The atmosphere is very casual, friendly and people go silly at times which seems to relax them by letting the inner idiot come out to play.  Can I post the URL here?   I don't want to get into trouble on my second post....  hehehe
Anyway it is called Pieter's Message Parlour.... oh.... what an amazing coincidence - that's my name too.  Go figure.   Google it and go for it.   I liked it.  (awkward pause.......)  OK - YES, ALRIGHT... IT'S MINE....  SO I STUFFED UP.  SO SUE ME ALREADY!!!!    &^%((*@!#@%%?>!!!!!!
Don't visit then.  See if I care....   (BAH!!!!)
