I drove up to Las Vegas this weekend from socal. The drive up went pretty good actually, considering there's some major construction stuff going on around I-15 in a couple of spots.
But I have to admit that I was so disappointed driving in. It looks so bleak and grey and there's construction everywhere and man... the garbage on the streets! Of course I'm on the main streets. I haven't had time to cruise around there much yet. I will soon though -- it looks like a contract may come through with one company I work with that will give me a couple of years data specialist tasks! If that happens (should know in the next month I think) then I will be packing up from Carlsbad and finding a place to hang my hat in LV.
I get LV, and then I don't get it. It's hard to explain. Walking on the strip was strange but kind of fun. Maybe I have to be drinking to get the full effect. I did leave LV $300 richer though which is always a nice touch. :-)
The slot tournaments at the various casinos are a riot. 10 minutes of hitting that Spin Reel button and being on the edge of your chair... WHEW. Very funny. I had a really nice older lady chanting behind me "double double! double double!" to help me get 3 Double Diamonds across. I didn't get the double diamond trio, but we did place 25th and made $100 on that. Top prize was $3500.
My next visits will not be around the casinos. I hadn't been to LV since about 2002 I think... so this was just a whirlwind visit. I'm looking for what the prettiest parts of LV or surrounding area are. I've heard Henderson is... but hey, if anyone else out there hails from LV or knows it well and can give me some direction, I would SURELY appreciate it. I am not a bazillionaire so I can't build my own little oasis in that desert!
This move is a little daunting. It will all work out I'm sure. And besides, it isn't happening yet!
Cheers all,
Sarcee
