I've been busy with work for the past few days so didn't have time post anything new.
So lets start with todays topic, being a Muslim because of self interest or marriage.....
Which are you??
As you all know from my earlier posts that I'm a chinese Muslim convert myself, had been for about 6 years already. I got married after three years. I should have taken more effort into the teachings of Islam during this time. You know why? I think my two year old son will be the one to teach me the prayer before meals, instead of the other way around!! How embarrasing!!!
I was more into activities and seminars when I was still a single Muslim. Not much effort was done to memorize Verses from the Quran, prayers before any activities that we do. Once married with children only did I realize that I had actually wasted my whole 3 years!! I only realized this when my husband one day asked me when am I going to memorize all of these special prayers. What if my son asks me how to recite the prayer before each meals to him?? It will be very embarrasing if I didn't know!!
And this is from someone who actually love the religion but is also very lazy!!
What about those people who became Muslims just because of marriage??
If you have a strong and religious husband than you will be taught accordingly and sufficiently. But wifes on the other hand is a bit difficult to teach a husband to follow religiously if it's not from his own free will. This is because the husband is still the head of the house. If he refuses to follow the teachings than what can we do?? We can't do anything.
A percentage of people who converts because of marriage thinks that because it's a must to become a Muslim if you want to marry a Muslim they just become a Muslim without the full commitments. Some that I heard even went back to their original religion if they are divorced. It's a big sin you know to get out of ISlam or we call it Murtad. If they do, their ex-spouse is the one who will have to bare the sins for this.
