About a week ago, my hot water heater developed a slow leak. We went into the basement to retrieve a screwdriver and it was about 115 degrees down there and more humid than Louisiana after a heavy rain. The mold was about 1 inch thick on all my belongings.
Yesterday Honey and I decided to tackle the task of photographing and inventorying all of my personal property... believe it or not, there was over 16,000 dollars worth of ruined items. Now I have two questions I hope my fellow soulcasters can help me with.
1) The age of these items was anywhere from 0-4 years...how much money can I hope to recover? I have a renter's policy with a deductible of 100 dollars.
2) Will my landlord have to clean out the basement and replace the drywall? It also has LOTS of mold growing on it. It seems to me it's a health code violation or something. ( Especially since I am allergic to mold)
Any comments would be most appreciated.
