They miss George W. Bush...
I just read Caroline Glick's interesting little ode to George W. Bush and her pain (yes, her choice of wording) at him no longer being POTUS:
"A couple of days ago I heard the news that George and Laura Bush paid a private visit to the wounded soldiers at Fort Hood. They specifically requested that the base commander not inform the media of their visit. They came. They comforted the wounded soldiers and the Fort Hood community for a couple of hours. And then they left. And they never had their pictures taken saluting the troops or holding their hands.
When I heard the news, I felt this pain that hasn't gone away. It's a pain that I have been feeling fairly often since last November."
When I heard the news, I felt this pain that hasn't gone away. It's a pain that I have been feeling fairly often since last November."
Imagine, a former POTUS visiting victims of a shooting at a military base in the US. How selfless. But why does she say she misses him? Here goes:
"It hurts to hear about an American President who cares deeply and
sincerely about wounded soldiers and soldiers murdered in a terrorist
attack and know that he is not the American President."
Is there some sort of massive amnesia afoot on the right side of the aisle? Because the above statement is breathtakingly absent actually history.
Is this the same POTUS who so deeply cares about US soldiers that he violated his most sacred trust and knowingly and willfully lied this nation into a war of choice in Iraq? Is this the same POTUS who was so busy making sure his cronies got no-bid contracts that he failed to supply our troops with proper armor before sending them into battle? Former SeDef Rumsfeld famously once quipped about the matter, saying, "as you know, you go to war with the Army you have. They're not the Army you might want or wish to have at a later time."
The rest.
