Love them or hate them?

I am old enough to remember the Saturday Night Fever craze.  The soundtrack filled with Bee Gees songs will always be one of my favorites.  My parents got to hear it blasting from my room repeatedly.  I'll bet they were happy when Walkman's came out.  I got caught up in the disco fever of the day

This was my "tween" music.

I know that many people say they hate the Bee Gees and yet this video on You Tube has over 8 million hits.

Their greatest hits CD is about to get blasted throughout my house.  :-)

Ah Ah Ah ... Stayin' Alive, Stayin' Alive ...

:-)

Now this is what I call "get white girls into bed music".  :D

    Awful video, though...

LMAO @ Grape!  I was jr high and early HS when these guys were big and yes we found ways to get the radio tuned to these songs every chance we got. (big sis and I)

    Grape,
If some boy would have dedicated that song to me, I would have been crushing on him big time.  lol

    uni,
I loved them.  I still do.  I was lucky that I had good radio reception.  :-)

I've always liked the Bee Gees,  I thought it sad that Victoria Principal and Andy Gibb's romance never lasted to long. It tore Andy apart. The cocaine addiction didn't help Andy but I really believe his career would have re-flourished had she not walked out on him.  In fact, he'd probably still be alive. I may have everything the Bee Gees ever did.

I love their music.  I'm so stuck in the 70s, though, I love all disco music...well, most disco music.

They were a great group, their music, like the Beatles, will still be played down through generations to come.
Yes their music will be "staying alive."

    CayenneMan,
Andy Gibb was good too.  I always loved his song, "Shadow Dancing".  I didn't know much about his romances but I was sad when he died.  I listen to the Bee Gee's Greatest Hits quite a bit.

    Twyla,
I'm a big Donna Summer fan as far as disco goes.  "Last Dance" and that whole "Thank God It's Friday" movie/plus soundtrack are still a lot of fun for me.  I could list lots and lots of artists from that era that I still enjoy.

    hbh,
    I agree with you.  :-)

I know I'm younger so I missed out on the Bee Gees in their prime, but I've listened to them here and there and I do like them.  I've got to be in the right mood for them though, it's not something I'd just flip on randomly.  I'm more prone to listening to them when we've got friends over and we're all goofing off, having a good time.  Ha, also I remember a few years ago when I was into NSYNC, and they re-did 'How Deep Is Your Love', I was mesmerized by the song at the time, and I was shocked to find out that someone else had done it first (ah, so naive, lmao).  That's when I started putting effort into listening to the Bee Gees and other songs of theirs.   Good stuff.  :-D

    Hege,
Sometimes I forget what a wee young lass you are.  lol  I don't think I've ever heard the cover done of that song.  Was that the group Justin Timberlake was in?  I like his voice.  :-)

CW - Yes indeed, it was that group.  They actually didn't butcher it too bad, now that I've had a chance to listen to both.  And that's not coming from an NSYNC obsessed opinion, lol, that has long since passed.  But yup, sometimes I shudder to admit I even had 'NSYNC days' ,lol.  I figure, it's part of what made me 'me', so I roll with it.  :-D

!!!  I love their music!  I've just been dancing to your video, CDub!  This is music from my college days.  I have a 2 CD set that I listen to all the time.

    GrapeApe, you are naughty.  LOL
