I did what any self-respecting crafter would do. I sought out a craft show.
It was one of those "Ladies Day Out" events like I did with my hats. I went on a whim after we buried our dog. It was over at my home town and I figured it was just a little gathering.
I got pleasantly surprised!
The place was packed. It was put on by the local hospital and was a combination of health information and several vendors. I was in heaven. No sooner had I signed in at the door and walked over to the first table when my name was called for winning a door prize. It was a thermal bag filled with girly stuff and chocolate. Perfect.
There was a purse there that screamed at me from across the room, so I brought it home with me. It is metallic bronze and silver with a big rose embellishment on it. I might achieve pack horse status when I lug this thing around.
I treated myself to some chicken nuggets afterwords. As I was there under the yellow arches, I kept eying this couple standing very close to the major highway there panhandling. They looked like well kept people with a sign that said, "Laid Off Work, Anything Will Help". I'm pretty sure this was a scam because I've seen people doing this at another truck stop up the road and watched them. It's been the same person over and over. Besides jobs are available here in this area. We have been very fortunate.
Anyway, I called 911 and asked if that was legal. At the very least, I thought they were creating a safety issue where they were standing. It's a short turn for semi's. The dispatcher said it sounded like an officer should take a look. I met a state trooper as I headed out. I thought to myself that the panhandlers were about to have a bad day. I'm not against helping people out, but the little gal with him in her short shorts just screamed scam to me.
Then I stopped at a craft consignment place to see about placing some of my handmade stuff in there. I might do it. We'll have to see. I would have to pay a monthly fee and she would mark my stuff up too.
Of course the day wouldn't be complete without bringing home a couple of skeins of new yarn. :-)
That's my day so far.
