I just heard on the news that she was shot in both legs and one arm as she shot at him. She killed him with a shot from the ground with only her torso and one arm raised. Whew....what a hero!
I found out today that she's a graduate of our local High School and was a member of the police force in the beach town next door. Her former partner credits her for saving his life when a perp he was subduing pried his service revolver from his belt. She jumped on the perp's back and beat the hell out of him. Her co-workers started calling her "Mighty Mouse" afterward.
Thanks for reading, all. I didn't feel it appropriate to make a big post out of this--I just had the need to write how I was feeling about this. But I will comment on Twyla's response: This is new information I hadn't heard and thank you for that. I think she deserves an award, but I also know a picture frame with words on it doesn't even touch the depth of character that will surely be rewarded in other ways.
Wombie ~ The shot that downed Hasan was fired by another first responder who had gone around the building to get behind him while Munley fired from the front. When he turned the corner he saw Munley down and firing. He killed Hasan. Medics treated Munley and then treated Hasan. Those soldiers and first responders saved a lot of lives.

I don't know why but it's bugging me that I said I would be working overtime and left a sort of "see you later" thing. The overtime got pushed back because they hired some temps, to save money, I guess. I'm hoping I get some of that extra cash before I...read entire post12 comments
