It's funny how some people never try to understand the music they listen to. Not caring about the message music tries to convey is kinda like not caring if you're hungry. You tend to miss out on one of the pleasures life has to offer. Plus, you realize the importance of the message the musician is trying to convey.
It's fine though. Like Russel Peters says, "Whatever makes you happy."
I also have music I'd rather just listen to. Those are usually instrumental bands or bands who sing about love and relationships and such.
But reading between the lines has become kind of an addiction for me. Ever since I stumbled upon Nirvana back in '01, it's been one fucked-up awesome ride after another. I loved the way he bashed "cool kids" in Nevermind. Sad irony is, they actually loved it. xD I bet most of the people who bought that album didn't and still don't notice at all. Too bad Kurt had to give in to commercialism, but he did it with flair. You just gotta admire that.
That band inspired me to become a musician as well as a songwriter, but they also taught me not to stoop too low, and to make music for myself instead of others. Although, sometimes, it does feel good indulge in appreciation now and then. That's when the power of conformism overwhelms my morals.
In other news, my download rampage continues. She says it's good that I'm a dl-junkie instead of just a junkie lol. I think it's awesome. Keeps my mind busy.
Gonna start swimming as well, so looking forward to that. I seriously need a new book. Reading the same books over and over again is kinda boring... unless it's The Lord Of The Rings. J. Tolkien is amazing, but none of his other books even compare to this one. I've read 3 others; The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, The Children of Hurin. Pretty good, but not as good as LOTR. Read it 6 times (!) and it still doesn't get old!!
Aagh, I really need to get some sleep tonight. Long day tomorrow.
