i have now broken 4 sewing machine needles in the space of 15 minutes.

and the last one that broke feel INSIDE the machine..... a tiny part of it is poking up... but i can't grab it with my fingers.

i need a magnet.... or tweezers!

or i need to take the machine apart.... *sigh* which i don't want to do.

I feel your pain.  Another SCer is having the same kinds of problems with sewing machines today.  (not me)

alas i have given up on the pull it out method.

i am now resorting to the i don't have a screwdriver in the bridal shop... (imagine that) so i will now use a quarter to take my sewing machine apart.

(whatever happened to those handy little screwdrivers that came with the machines?)

Yikes, well I hope it goes smoothly and you get that needle with as little trouble as possible.

i got the needle out... finally...... the quarter didn't work... so i used a nickel. LOL

got the needle out and then proceeded to break two more needles before i got the top stitching done that i needed to do......

it was a beaded bodice that i was converting from a zip up back to a lace up back and i had to sew through the beading.   talk about a pain in the butt.

but i finally got it done and it turned out beautifully....... several dollars worth of needles later...... this is why i have boxes of spares.

I feel your pain and frustration, keenly.  I'm the SCer with the naughty sewing machine.  I've broken needles like that too and it's a pain in the butt.  I bought a set of tiny screwdrivers at the hardware store -- makes it so much easier.

Wow, I'd love to see what you're working on.  Garment sewing is something I don't do anymore.

miss mimi.... well. the dress was a size 14 and she needs at least an 20. maybe even a 22.  it has 2 inches i can let out on both side seams if we need to.... and then i put a 6 inch panel in the back. and loops for a lace up bodice. and took the zipper out....

when i put it back together after putting the loops into the seams... i whip stitched the beaded outside to the lining ....and it looked AWFUL.

so i ripped that all out and decided to risk it and just try to sew over the top of the beading. ... it worked okay except when the needle actually tried to go THROUGH a bead instead of around it.

it did turn out MUCH better than the whip stitching though.
