Yeah, I couldn't resist ... I thought it was time to get everybody thinkin' again ...

  1. If you were only allowed to have and read (as many times as you wanted) ONLY one book for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
  2. Look around the room you're in, find one ugly thing, and find something beautiful about it.  What was the thing, and what beautiful thing about it did you find?
  3. What's annoying you right now?

  1. If you were only allowed to have and read (as many times as you wanted) ONLY one book for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?  Black Beauty because I could get lost in that book daily, picturing all the horses and the scenes that play out, and because it isn't without its morals and thought provoking moments.
  2. Look around the room you're in, find one ugly thing, and find something beautiful about it.  What was the thing, and what beautiful thing about it did you find?  My husband's feet; While they are about atrocious looking, they get him around everywhere he needs to go, enable him to work, to plainly live comfortably, and without them we'd be screwed for so very many reasons
  3. What's annoying you right now?  My husband flipping around in the bed like a fish, and then sticking an elbow in my back, or a knee in my leg.

Oh oh oh! I wanna play!! :-D

1----> Firstly, I don't think I could honestly live with only one book to read, but looking around my room for something ugly I see my "Norton Anthology of Poetry", and I think I could last a while with just that, especially for Blake, Keats, and Shelley. Blake's "Songs" are amazing, so simple, but so beautiful....

2-----------> My boyfriend's old hoodie, because it's so old, and stretched and faded and thin, but when I'm lonely and missing him, I put it on and it's so warm and enveloping and comfortable, it's like he's right there hugging me (nawwww...)

3------> My freaking computer. It keeps going all "white screen of death" on me. And who ever heard of the "white" screen of death, anyway.... gah...

    1.  David Attenborough's 'Life on Earth'.  I would never tire of the pictures and all the details about the wonderful creatures of our planet.

    2. The clear plastic matting that runs the length of my arm chairs and sofa at the front for where your feet sit are so ugly but they keep the carpet really clean so, if we have a party or visitors we can take it up and know the carpet looks great.

    3.  Most annoying right now is my glasses keep going skew-wiff on my face as I broke one of the arms last night lol!  Got to go get them fixed today.

    1. If you were only allowed to have and read (as many times as you wanted) ONLY one book for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?  Hmmm not sure.  Maybe the Art of War.
    2. Look around the room you're in, find one ugly thing, and find something beautiful about it.  What was the thing, and what beautiful thing about it did you find? The ugly thing was my pile of clutter in the corner, the beautifu thing was my sheer curtains held back with a lace scarf.
  • What's annoying you right now? besides the fact that I'm awake at this hour? probably my growling tummy.

Jenny - Your book sounds interesting, I might have to check it out some time.  Sounds like it would make for a very enjoyable read.  Aww, that's cute about your boyfriend's hoodie.  I used to be that way with one of my husband's t-shirts before we were living together.  Also ... white screen of death huh ... haven't seen that one yet.

PC - I think I need to check your book out too, sounds worth a good read for me.  That'd drive me nuts having broken glasses to contend with, but I mean if you need 'em, you need 'em and I think that's what would drive me most nuts ... I NEED them, so I can't just go without, darn it!  Hope by now they're fixed and not an annoyance any longer.  :-D

Uni - I've heard of that book, but not yet read it, sounds worth checking out.  *shudders* Piles of clutter, I hate those, and so does my husband now because when I see one I go into psycho-cleaning mode, lmao.  Well, I hope you're rested well enough for today's work day and all.

    1. The Bible.
    2. My full length leather coat. It makes me look like a "GOODFELLA".
    3. My darn cat!

I need to take a break now! This wiped me out! ( he,he,he )

Ok, Ok  . . . just who the hell is fucking with my eyes ? I seem to be a little sideways here :o)  !

#1.   The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain.   I never find the read boring and it always seem to deliver fresh clean country air to my imagination along with the sounds of a wood pecker drilling away on an old oak tree.

    #2.
It's kind of funny you brought this up. I'm sitting here in my dungeon and have a pair of sandals sitting off to the side of my desk next to my waste basket. I brought them down here thinking I could salvage them. Ain't no fuck'n way they look like hell :o)  .  Yesterday my wife handed me a plastic bag containing a breakfast meal she couldn't finish. I guess I tilted the bag and pancake syrup leaked out and dripped on my left sandal, I never noticed it. I kicked my sandals off and went into my kitchen. I ate the rest of the pancakes, toast and bacon and returned to my family room. Pluto was laying there acting like he was sleeping and I knew he wasn't  because I saw his left eye peak  . . .  my left sandal looks like it went through a blender.

#3: The fact that I know I'll have to change a bulb in my ceiling fan globe soon, it's starting to flicker and it drives me nuts.  I have cathedral ceilings and I know I'm going to have to use the"big ladder" to change it .  Sometimes changing a simple 300 watt bulb can be a complicated mission around here :o(   .

Mixed - You know, I really wondered if anybody would say 'The Bible'.  That's pretty neat.  :-)

CM - No kidding, this post is totally psyching me out every time I check on it, lol.  Anyway, good book, I was actually in a play of that in the 5th grade.  Interesting for sure.  Wow, well at least you and your sandals are eating well.  :-)

Star - I might have to check that book out, just the title alone makes me wonder what it's all about.  Huh, well you're lucky to not have to look at anything ugly when you're in the office.  :-)  I get annoyed at myself when I realize I'm spending a little too much time on SC, and too little time working when it should be the other way around.  I swear it starts off that way.  :-D

    1. If you were only allowed to have and read (as many times as you wanted) ONLY one book for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? William Gibson's Neuromancer. It's a good guide to how people think and feel and I think it's a good guide to the future of society. Very cyberpunk!
    2. Look around the room you're in, find one ugly thing, and find something beautiful about it.  What was the thing, and what beautiful thing about it did you find? Well, my cat Ginger just pooped in the bathroom again... It has a surrealistic hue?
    3. What's annoying you right now? My mother-in-law's sense of reality and displaced illusion of authority.
  • Hegemone said on Nov 05, 2009....
Java - Sounds like an interesting read.  Hmm, who'd have thought poop could turn into something so interesting, right?

Hege, Tending Roses is about a young mother with a baby who has a heart condition and husband with money problems who go to visit Grandma after years of being isolated from the family.  Their family became distant with eachother after an unexpected and confusing death in the family.  The reunion is only happening bc the family fears grandma can no longer care for herself.  While the young mother and husband arive weeks before the rest of the family they learn a ton of life lessons from grandma and how maybe she isnt going crazy.  The mother "discovers" herself and her families past and learns from her mistakes and realizes what is truly important in life.  She learns to "Tend Roses"...

Of course that was quite vague, I didnt want to give anything away if you do decide to read it.  Ill tell ya one thing though.  Its hard for me to find a good book and I simply couldnt put this one down.  It was very sweet and warm and made me cry numerous times.

    1. Good Omens by terry pratchett and neil gaiman.  i've already read it 5 times.... sometimes back to back and it never gets old and always makes me laugh... and makes me think. i can't think of another book i could read that many times in a row.

    2. something ugly...... my water bottles, medicine bottles, cough drop wrappers, dirty dishes and cups by my bedside from being sick........ it's a mess.... and i've been too tired to clean it up..... i had to work all day today and i'm still not completely better... but it's beautiful because it shows that i was taking care of myself.

    3. sadly annoyed that the boyfriend has taken his holiday from my constant texts and still has not contacted me since this afternoon. and annoyed with myself for needing him to pay so much attention to me.
  • Hegemone said on Nov 06, 2009....
Star - OK, yeah, now I'm gonna have to put that on my 'must read' list.

Fallyn - I might have to check your book out, I've never heard of it, but the title sounds like it ought to be a good book.  Hey, I like your 'ugly' thing that you turned into something beautiful.  I could have pulled off that observation myself since I've been sick too.  That's really cool of you to think about it that way.  As far as the boyfriend, ya also gotta remember that sometimes they hear 'I want you to miss me, so I'm gonna leave you alone for a bit.' as 'I'm gonna leave you alone for a bit, no strings attached, talk to ya in the future!'  Dunder heads just don't seem to get it that we maybe want to feel like they miss and need us.  Hoping you've found somethin' to occupy ya or make you feel better.  :-)

    1. i can't choose... i lvoe books but i easily get bored if i only read...

    2. my hair. i dont like them shorter and curly... but hey at least i look good!!!

    3. i read somewhere that people call 911 for soemthing stupid. wasting money and shit.... i mean you guys should be grateful because in my country there's no 911 you have to wait if you want to be rescued... it's just annoying when people are not grateful...
