When choosing a breast implant type, you have to choose either saline or silicone. According to Dr. Francis Palmer, a Beverly Hills cosmetic surgeon,
"if [the saline implant] ruptures, the implant deflates immediately and
the body absorbs the salt water." Saline breast implants have a low
density which means that the water is not heavy so when you are upright
the water in the breast implant will tend to fall to the bottom. This
can create a rippling effect that sometimes is visible through skin.
Even though the breast implant will be filled with saline solution, it still has a silicone outer shell.
