The tastes of the American viewers seem to lean hopelessly on the side of medical dramas. As a matter of fact, medical dramas have captured the top slots in the dish network channels for some time. Historically, medical dramas do well. Remember the hugely successful medic drama of the 50s Medic? In the 60s as well, we moved to the orders of Dr. Kildare. Then, on satellite TV, George Clooney appeared in the super popular ER. Another popular medic drama of this generation was Chicago Hope.
The good work done by these soaps have paved the way for the
hit soaps of the present days, like Grey’s Anatomy and House. Grey’s Anatomy
has turned Katherine Heigl as the highest paid TV actress of the age. The
greatest pull of this show is the interpersonal relationship between the
medicos that the show portrays. In House, Dr. Gregory House draws in viewers by
the dozens as the eccentric but brilliant doctor whom people flock to in times
of trouble.
