He Killed Dave: Steve Mapes used to live in the basement of this house on Stockwell street. The guy that lived upstairs was an associate of Steve's father. Turns out, the guy living above Steve took the rap for an illegal gambling operation and did hard time. The man's name was Dave. The story was told that when Dave was let out of prison Steve Mapes's dad purchased the Grapevine Bar and Grill Restaurant for him to own and operate. I understand the place was a fine local neighborhood hot spot. Both Steve and "Dave" lived in this house for free with Steve's multi millionaire father footing the bills.
"Steve Mapes tormented and disturbed the peace of Dave until he died" one Lincoln resident claims. Steve Mapes would run a cb radio at all hours of the day and night that would disturb poor Dave's television. Steve Mapes would sit down in the basement screaming at people on the cb radio with a high power amplifier that would cause Dave's television to be inoperable. The man could not get any peace from Steve. The man was living a quiet peaceful life working at his restaurant and watching tv in his off hours. That is until Steve Mapes was put in the basement. It was also stated that Steve's overpowered cb radio also damaged several of Dave's television sets. Whether this is true or not the fact remains the Dave person was upset about this constantly. Dave had quite a few confrontations as well with Steve where he asked him if he could tone down his radio a bit. This always lead to one of Steve's public temper tantrums where Steve would begin to scream obscenities. the Dave gentleman was just left to deal with the problem. Shortly after Dave had a heart attack and died. many speculate because of the direct stress caused by Steve Mapes.
Of course no living soul could prove such a story but, it is Ironic that the stink of death seems to follow Steve Mapes wherever he goes. He is a living outrage to humanity and a constant reminder how low some human beings can be. Steve's "friends" notice and reported that he had no remorse for the death of Dave and his own mother.
