A healthy food diet is beneficial for everyone. It is important to
take care of your body and if you eat well, you will reap the good
benefits. A healthy diet does not need to be boring! It should be
tasty, balanced and exciting. If you get bored with a diet, you will
quickly abandon it!A healthy food diet is a life eating plan rather
than a short term fad diet (fad diets do not work because your body
does not get all its required nutrients and you end up with hunger
pangs and cravings).
A good healthy food list is a must for
people seeking to improve their eating habits and start on a diet of
good nutrition. Most of us are either overwhelmed by the volume of data
available on what healthy foods are or lack the time to get organized
before we go shopping. That is why coming up with a healthy food list
is a must.
To work best, the body needs carbohydrates, proteins,
fats, minerals, vitamins and liquids. A good selection of vegetables,
fruits, grains and proteins is necessary and eating regular meals
rather than just one huge one is better for you.
Eating well
reduces the risk of illnesses such as cancer, high blood pressure,
diabetes and heart disease. A poor diet can result in obesity, lethargy
and spotty skin. A good diet will help you maintain a healthy weight
which is a big factor in overall health.
Choose foods that
provide a rich source of many of the essential nutrients needed for
optimal health. Include the fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and
seeds, lean meats, fish, olive oil, herbs and spices that you enjoy and
are familiar to you and your family. An occasional exotic food may be a
new experience, but if you or your family will not eat it, why include
it in your list? When it comes to vegetables, try picking from the
rainbow of colors available to maximize variety. Buy non-starchy
vegetables such as spinach, carrots, broccoli or green beans.
It
is a bad idea to deprive yourself totally of your favorite foods so the
occasional slice of chocolate cake is fine. You don’t need to cut
anything out completely. You can, however, make good choices and
substitute one food choice for another.Changes should be made
gradually. You can begin by introducing more fresh fruit and vegetables
into your diet, and perhaps swapping white processed bread for a whole
grain bread. If you normally deep fry a lot of food, try baking or
grilling it instead
Choose whole grain foods instead of
processed grain products. Try brown rice and whole-wheat spaghetti or
spinach pasta. Include dried beans (like kidney or pinto beans) and
lentils. Choose whole grain breads this means breads that say 12 grain
not just whole wheat.Choose healthy spices and herbs to spice up your
food diet. Many of us are not aware of the healing powers and
nutritional value of spices. Both herbs and spices are excellent
antioxidants. Chili Powder, a blend of spices including chili peppers,
plus cumin, oregano, paprika, salt, and garlic powder. The health
benefits of chili powder are derived mostly from the capsaicin in the
red pepper which is used in skin creams to reduce pain, including that
of osteoarthritis. It also has antioxidant and blood- thinning
qualities.
