I was reading world news and came upon a story about a girl in Peru that is 8 years old and 6 months pregnant.
She was raped by her 29 year old cousin and upon discovering her pregnancy has fled. The stroy then made a reference to another girl who holds the record for youngest mother in the world.
She was 5 years old when she gave birth! 5 years old!
That can't be right, I thought.
So I looked her up and it seems there is a record of such a girl giving birth at 5 years of age. The article contained two pictures. One where you can clearly see her in her pregnant stage and another picture after her son was born.
Did anyone else ever hear about this? This is shocking to me! To be a mother at 5 years old is beyond me. Why are girls developing earlier and earlier?

yep i heard about that. and it is true that the youngest mother is 5 years old. she treated her son as if it was her brother. she didn't understand why she got pregnant. my mother who's an OB-GYNE said that it happened that way because she was molested at a very young age. which caused her body to mature. therefore, she getting her period at a very very young age. and eventually got pregnant after being molested again.
what i want to know is who got that little girl pregnant?

Yes, I had heard of that. And like everyone else, I was wondering about the sick f*ck that abused her.
Concerning the early onset of menses, there was a study recently concluded that said that there is a relationship between male hormones and the beginning of puberty in girls. According to the research, girls without a father (or male figure) present were more likely to mature at a faster rate.
It attributed the increase in divorce rate to the phenomenon.

sigroid, when girls are born, they already have all the eggs they will ever need/get in the ovaries....they're ready at birth. A girl is born with only so many and can't make more, unlike their male counter parts.
I imagine the entire process was painful and miserable for that girl.

happykat/sigroid, they do have all the eggs, but the eggs cannot actually be fertilized until ovulation (which happens at puberty). Ovulation is controlled by hormones released by the pituitary gland. To quote from the link to this story, it sounds like this girl had a pituitary disorder:
Escomel posited that the reason behind her precocious fertility could not lie in the ovaries themselves but must have stemmed from an extraordinary hormonal disorder of pituitary origin.
I can't imagine how molestation could trigger something like this... unfortunately many small girls get molested, but they of course do not get pregnant... but it's certainly possible to be born with a disorder such as this; it's about as weird as the hormonal disorder that causes abrupt and rapid aging in very small children (I don't remember the name of it at the moment).

There was a case here in Malaysia where a young girl died of a torn vagina and I think because of the unbearable pain after she was raped! Her brother even became histerical as he was the one who found her but she was still breathing at that time but already motionless.

I find it rather sad that people keep saying "these days". This happened close to 70 years ago (1939). Seriously everyone, think then speak. Also, I believe it was estimated by her doctors (or researchers, not entirely positive) that she actually began menstruating at only 8 months, not the previously believed (by Lina's father) 3 years. The only question that I really want to know is who did it? Alas, it's like the number of licks it takes to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop.
The world may never know.
Hopefully, another young girl with such a hormonal problem as Lina had won't have to go through this same thing. Rare, but it could happen.
I hope no girl will ever have to give birth young! -

omg. i have actually heard about this. i was shocked too. they suspected her father of molesting her. but i dont know if it was ever proven or not. compltely shocking. as for why children are developing sooner, i watched something on the news about it. sometimes it has to do with their evniroment, as well as their family background. like if the mother of the child started maturing young, and that mother. and so on.... and apparently it can have to do with what u eat as well. but i dont believe the eating one. -
