One of my favorite books, The Road Less Travelled by M Scott Peck, has a fascinating view of original sin. It ties into the main theme of the entire book, and I don't want to rehash the whole book, but the essential premise is that personal/spirtual growth takes thought and effort this is often difficult. The primary impediment to growth is laziness and procrastination that prevents one from putting in the effort, time, and introspection to grow as a person. This laziness and desire to avoid the difficulties of introspection is original sin.

HOLY SMOKES- I think they were talking about me. "that personal/spirtual growth takes thought and effort this is often difficult" Hello- that took me 29 years and Im still working on it. "primary impediment to growth is laziness and procrastination that prevents one from putting in the effort, time, and introspection to grow as a person." AND FEAR. This was me because I was terrified- Of what I dont know but this is very very true "desire to avoid the difficulties of introspection is original sin." Also we cannot ask forgiveness for this because we wont admit it as a sin. Looking inside is the absolute hardest thing-Next to admitting what you find.

Have you read "Poverty of Spirity" by Johannes Baptist Metz? It is an excellent book. It's only about 50 pages long, but it is one of those books that you can read over and over again and never cease to learn new things from it. And C.S. Lewis -- what a great writer. Anything of his is great. I especially love the Chronicles of Narnia, and the Screwtape Letters. If you ever want to chat about spiritual reading, give me a holler!

NOW HERE'S A QUESTION...
Simply, the answer is NO! It doesn't jibe with the rudimentary doctrines of Jesus or even our own sense of morality. Who can condemn a newborn baby for sin? Who can say Adam condemned us all by sinning? It's a crazy concept!...
