I just talked to my niece. I like her. She's a lot like her aunt, so it goes without saying that she's a lot of fun. ;)
I'm not sure what prompted the call really. I think, but can't be sure, that it had something to do with her planning to get a tattoo. I'm the only one on my mom's side of the family that has one. She, I think, was touching base to see if she might survive the wrath of the family if she gets one. I did mention to her mine is in a generally covered area, but she is planning to put her's in plain view. I wish her luck.
But she also asked if I might be coming up her way for a visit. I have been semi-planning one for a long time. I tend to let it slide given the fact that it is also the same area that my mother lives in, and I like having a lot of space between us.
It would be a road trip. About an 8 hour drive north up the coast. I think I may have to break my promise to myself to stay home this winter and make at least a short trip up there. I'm thinking January if the weather does get too stupid. I could get shots of the redwoods while I'm there as well as the coastline, which is even more rugged there than here.
I have a distant cousin up there that I think I can beg a night or two of couch sleeping priviledges from. My niece also said I can couch surf there too. Might help with the cost of the trip. Hmmmmmm.....
Uni may be playing travel gnome again before spring.
