Remember, life is like a public bathroom.
Most of the time is smells and looks like shit but every now and then a special person comes by and cleans up the place, making it much better.

Voltaire, we see what we look for.  Look for the great, and you will find it.

Bhalah, night, day, all the same, what is time? consider that for a while.  Thank you for the compliment, very nice, and I appreciate it.

Rolling, how do you do smilies on here??
  • jebusiamnt665 said on Oct 26, 2009....
Try the "Character Map" on your computer's "System Tools". Tons of usable stuff there.

    And thanks for this.

    Humans are bacon, btw.
  • Mr.Strange said on Oct 26, 2009....
    lol

    Bacon is Carrots,
    Carrots are Humans,
    Humans are Bacon!

    lol

I run linux, though the tool is similar.
when I ran windows alt codes where the way to go.
Linux does not do alt codes,
    perhaps it does, just differently.

    Thanks for the idea.
  • jebusiamnt665 said on Oct 26, 2009....
    Anytime.

Yeah, alt codes are shortcuts to characters from the Character Map.

    I don't like being pissed off. :(

I can say, what feelings do you like?

    practice them, they'll get better.
  • jebusiamnt665 said on Oct 26, 2009....
I like indifference. To me, achieving indifference is the key to inner peace.

I mean, think about it. When indifferent, one doesn't feel any emotion whatsoever, whereas emotions keep building up these nuclear blasts in your head and keep you from achieving human beings' ultimate goal : perpetual nirvana.

I'm not saying all feelings are bad, but where there are good feelings, the bad will always be waiting on the sidelines. It's the balance of nature... and it keeps shifting.

    I think I'm on a rant-rampage today. :/
  • Mr.Strange said on Oct 26, 2009....
I would say indifference is where you start...

I met a Buddhist monk a few weeks ago,
he did a lecture on human potential,
I let him know I was very aware of the potential,
he told me to simply keep going.

Great advice, understand that your death is the end, till then keep going.

Getting a break from the emotions is great, how about feeling all the time, just in a way that is less conventional.

    Happiness, Joy, Excitement 24/7

Try me out, I can lead by example.
  • simpleChaos said on Oct 26, 2009....
wow, i really enjoyed reading all these posts! it seems like i do get these realizations that i am the only one who can make me feel like i do, but i am way too easily discouraged...but the idea of feeling in a way that is less conventional and more convenient is just so smart! thanks for all the great advice

    I LOVE THAT QUOTE

"The idea of feeling in a way that is less conventional and more convenient is just so smart!" -simpleChaos

I would love to use it in one of my books...

    Inspirations of Everday People

could you shoot me a first name you wish to be quote under, any name will do, I just want you to know it was you.
  • Voltaire said on Oct 26, 2009....
    Mr Strange,
I personally believe we see what we want to see.
Then even an idiot might look smart, in the right persons eyes.
  • Mr.Strange said on Oct 26, 2009....
    I agree,

so the question is what do you want to see?
  • Voltaire said on Oct 26, 2009....
    I suppose so.
  • jebusiamnt665 said on Oct 26, 2009....
Yeah, I suppose it counts to go on with life as it is and make as best of it as possible.

It's still sad though... to see people who have to go through the worst and still spark a smile whenever they come across any of the simple joys of life. Sad because it's not me who's in that position or them in mine. It's not right that they're going through hell and (quite possibly) at the same time I'm enjoying a huge dinner or party with family and/or friends.

Makes me feel weak in a way. I just can't help but feel sorry for myself at times.

    simpleChaos

How you feel is almost always up to you. There will always be someone or the other who puts you down no matter how hard you work or try to achieve something.

That's why I strive for indifference. It keeps the discouraging comments and lack of self-esteem at bay.

    "Indifference is where you start."

But you just can't seem to remember how that was like. I bet that right after you lose control of that state, life goes downhill... but that's just my opinion.
  • RollingC said on Oct 27, 2009....
It doesn't work on laptops...or at least I haven't discovered how yet..but in regular tower p/c's with plug-in keyboards you press the alt button and then experiment with the numbers keypad on the right hand.  Alt+1 = smiley face...Alt+2 = black smiley face.....Alt+3 = heart.....and so on.
There are a number of combinations that get different things.  You'd have to experiment and find out which works for you.

Mr Strange, it would be an honor to be quoted, makes me remember that i CAN make valid points. The true trick is remembering their validity... and you can use the name Crystal :) and where can you find this book?
and Jebus, it always seems that my worst enemy is myself. You are totally right, it's so easy for me to lose control of it. I'm just glad i always seem to work my way back up somehow. But i kind of get tired knowing i'm gonna fall again...
  • Mr.Strange said on Oct 27, 2009....
Jebus - I have been through hell, I do my best to allow others to find what I have found with out the experience I have had.
    I have found a way.
That is what I offer people, all people.

RollingC - I am sure there is a way, absolutely sure, its just a matter of finding it.

SimpleChaos - The book is in the works I have someone willing to transcribe my recorder, and work with me, when that goes in to place I was thinking of putting them in a site and having them available for download, till I form a publishing company or find one that will publish the book at a low cost.

Since your in it, you get a free download.

when its a paper book you'd get a free one of those to.
  • simpleChaos said on Oct 28, 2009....
that's exciting, Mr. STrange. I've always thought it would be cool to be published. maybe one of these days i'll come up with a great book idea...Until then, i'll keep pressing on!
  • Mr.Strange said on Oct 28, 2009....

give me a chance, and I'll pull them out of your mind grapes..
