Handy Andy and Mr Fix It made an appearance at my house yesterday. Handy Andy is my nickname for mrM when he decides to get out the old toolbox and have a go at home repairs. He really ought to write a do-it-yourself repair guide and entitle it Duct Tape is My Friend. mrM is a man with many fine qualities, and his heart is in the right place, but he is dangerous with a hammer and a screwdriver in his hands.
My son is the true Mr. Fix It in my family. And now that he's an adult, mrM is finally ready to allow our son to repair some things around the house.
I was fixing dinner last evening, and my son walked past the kitchen with a big-ass drill in hand and a big grin on his face.
Oh boy, Mom, Dad's gonna let me drill holes in the house!
What a momentous occasion! After weeks of finding my mailbox sitting on the lawn every now and then, it was finally going be securely attached to the house! I decided to take advantage of my own little Home Improvement show, and asked if they could please hang a quilt rack on the wall in the dining room. Well unfortunately it was a no-go because I couldn't find the little plastic bag of hardware it came with to hang it, but I have hope that soon it will be up on the wall. I've only had it for about five years so there's still time. ;)
Home repair is tiring business because after dinner, all three of the males in the house -- B, our son, and the cat -- were sound asleep in front of the television.
Male bonding -- gotta love it.
