So,
 
i go out to hire a couple of drivers for a contract i won with the government, now lets be clear, the guys i have hired since i started this business 12 years ago are all still with me, i treat my employees pretty good and pay them a decent wage and give them a pretty good benefit package. so  i have a couple of extra medics that i have been hanging onto, mainly because they are good employees and i hate letting anyone go, so with the new contract and the extra medics, i only needed to hire drivers, so i placed the add, and did the interviews on thursday
 
1st guy shows up, dirty, in jeans and crappy t-shirt, sorry not interested
2nd guy shows up, vocabulary consists of "yep" and has no resume with him, sorry again not intersted
3 guy shows up, dressed ok, somewhat intelligent, then we get into his driving record, he has an impaired driving cause bodily harm convixction, another impaired driving and a driving with out liscense and insurance charge
 
so i say sorry, my insurance company wont touch you, and you wont pass the security requirements for DHS for the contract
 
now put this in perspective, 18 bucks an hour, 50 hours a week, with OT, benefits after 3 months fully paid by me, pension after a year, fully paid by me, bonus of 3k a year based on safety and attendance
 
so friday morning i get a call from the human rights commission, apparently regardless of my insurance or the contract requirements i am discrimanating agaisnt the boozehound because he has a disability, i explained to the clerk that it was beyond my control and she actually suggested i hire him and just make a job for him, sorry once is a mistake, twice is a lack of responsibility three times is a fucking habit, the fouth time is is sheer stupidity, so i am supposed to risk everything i have built over 12 years so this idiot can drive for me....no fucking way
 
i have an appointment at the human rights commission to explain myself this coming monday
 
sometimes i wonder if it is fucking worth it

    I'm here shaking my head in disbelief, you my friend have been caught up in the what you say, not what is right situation. I used to do interviews for a company I worked for on the Gold Coast. One thing they hammered into me was never say no to them at interview. Always leave things open and inform them yes or no by a standard letter. Never give a reason for not employing cause than you have fucktards like that guy go to some "we force employers to give losers jobs organisation"

    you know i remember at selection camp the rsm told everyone that his goal was to elimanate 80% of the applicants, not because he didn't think we werent all good enough, but he wanted the best, not just those who were "good", i failed my first selection and the rsm told me, "go back to your home regiment, work on why you failed, lick your balls and come back next year and pass" yep, i was pissed, but the next year, i tried again and passed and once i got to airborne school i thought "thank god i failed last year cause I never would have passed final selection then", i ended up being the honour graduate and going on to the SSF for what was probably the best 8 years of my life, now they would just file a human rights compliant that the rsm was to mean, lol, spoke to my lawyer and he says offer 10K to the idiot and next time keep my dam mouth shut. and hey send me some bikies, cant get jaffa cakes in Canada

    LMAO.....I wonder what my old RSM would have thought if he got a call from the Human Rights Commision. They would have had a nerveous breakdown at the language that came back at them. Thats the problem with fuckwits though they expect everything to be done for them. Why should they have to change. They have rights. What happened to your rights. Shit I'm getting worked up now lol. Why didn't I think of that in wales during P company.  My legs hurt and they say I have to keep going, boo hoo. the packs too heavy, they are making me carry a log for no reason.

    Unfortunately for me it takes almost 4 years to become a fully trained and competent paramedic, when you throw in a requirement for remote location experience and industrial medicine there just is not enough of them out there. that's why I kept the three on that i didn't have any work for and just needed drivers.  i went to a hiring fair at fort bragg a few weeks ago to try to hire some medics that were coming up for release, and there were over 40 companies down there doing the same thing, i may get lucky cause I know 2 of them from my time at Bragg but trying to compete with KBR, Dyncorp, Imperial Oil and the like is almost impossible

    So the idiots at the human rights commission got thier pound of flesh, seems it dont matter that the boozehound is a moron, and I quote from the decision
     
    "We, as a society must prevent further disinfrancise of those members who are suffering from a disability"
     
    So final result, government security requirements and insurance requirements won.....but apparently i did not put in the ad thier would be a security/dl check, therefore i "could have prevented the applicant from being exposed to a situation that could potentially harm his self esteem which is directly related to his disability"
     
    funny i figured going to jail, driving drunk and hurting an innocent party, driving drunk again and getting caught with no DL or insurance pretty much means you already have no self esteem or self respect, but hell thats just me
     
    So i dont have to hire him but i do have to pay the hearing fee's and his award of 900.00 plus my lawyer

    The moron at human rights should have smacked him in the head the minute he made the complaint instead of blaming you for causing a situation that hurt his widdle feelings.

    well a good turn of events, i had ayoung ex-serviceman fresh from afganistan (from my old regiment, god us para's know where to find other para's) apply for the job, showed up to the interview, clean, neat and freely admitted he had no training except what he got from the army, said he wanted at some point to become a medic. hired him on the spot, paired him with an ex-sf medic and told him to start teaching the kid. made the kid a deal, he stays with us for a year doing the shit jobs and i will send him to university for the 2 years to become a medic then he sticks with us for 2 years after that, kid agreed, what i didnt tell him and probably wont till just before he starts school is that i will keep him on the payroll while he is in school
