Why do Cats Purr ???

Why cats make the noise is quite a mystery. even today with all our Technology, they still do not know why. the Cat's Purr has been a mystery for many years !

Cats can Purr when they are contented, and when injured or close to death.

The Purr has been called the Cats Mantra, a soothing sound much like the Ommmmm, some use while meditating.

What makes the Purr unique, is that it is produced throughout the entire respiratory cycle, both during inhalation and exhalation.

Feline Purr Facts:

1) Cats Purr at a frequency of 25 to 150 hertz - which is a deep bass, most sub-woofers kick in around 100 hertz and really start kicking at 50 hertz and lower ( The lower limit of Human hearing is 20 hertz )

2) 25 to 150 hertz is the same frequency that stimulates bone healing and growth, and it increases both bone and muscle density !

3) It is also possible the sound causes the release of endorphins, a natural analgesic, that reduce pain during healing.

4) Researchers found that exposure to a sound frequency between 50 and 150 Hz provided relief for 82% of those suffering chronic and acute pain. Thus, it is unsurprising that cats often purr when they are injured or giving birth.

5) Breathing Problems

Research indicates that purring can help decrease dyspnea, or shortness of breath. One study found that among dogs and cats suffering from myocardial necrosis, all of the dogs had dyspnea, but none of the cats suffered from this condition. The incidence of primary lung tumours is also three times higher in dogs than in cats. Additionally, researchers have found that in humans, a vibration of 100Hz, which is in the range covered by a cat’s purr, can decrease the symptoms of a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease called dyspnea in both cats and humans.

6) Tendons and Muscles

Cats suffer far less often than dogs from diseases afflicting the muscles and ligaments, and low-decibel frequencies similar to that of a cat’s purr have also proven beneficial for the healing of muscles and tendons in humans. One study found that following sports injuries, low-frequency biomechanical stimulation can prevent decreases in muscle strength and mass. Another found that the vibration can speed tendon healing in the ankle, increasing upper ankle joint mobility by up to 19% after injury.

It appears that some are just waking up to the benefits of feline / animal family / spirit guides in their lives, in more ways than one.

Cats are natural Sound Healers, not only for themselves, but for those who are around them.

Its easy to understand why the Egyptians revered Cats now !

Good Vibrations !

Shift of Frequencies start happening as you either listened to and/or do them. Jonathan Goldman in his book "Shifting Frequencies" states: "Vocal Harmonics can be an extraordinary means of heightening your consciousness. It changes your brainwaves and stimulates portions of your brain that can receive greater levels of frequency".

If you are recovering from an injury, you should hug a purring cat. Consistent vibrational sound frequencies of 25-150 Hz, which is the range of a cat’s purr, aid in the healing of bones, tendons, ligaments and muscles, as well as providing pain relief.

That really was interesting.  Makes me think of all the kitties in my life and their different purring patterns.  Little Guy purrs when he's being fed or petted, LOUDLY.  He's honestly the loudest purring cat I've heard yet.  Little Kitty purrs when it's time for a nap or bed, only when she gets to cuddle up close to me.  Yellow Kitty only purrs when he's begging and occassionally after a few minutes of being petted.  Interesting stuff to think and read about.
