Well well well it seems there's an ongoing war of words between the Obama Administration and Fox News. Administration hatcheteers Robert Gibbs and Anita Dunn have been lambasting the "Fair and Balanced" news network recently over comments made by on-air personalities Glenn Beck and Mike Huckabee.

I don't get this. Obama gets fawning, uncritical coverage from 99% of the news media outlets on the market and he has to pick on the ONE network that airs dissenting opinions?

Is this President really so small, so emasculated, so impotent, so Napoleonic that he cannot stand criticism and skepticism (yes, and cynicism) from one network?

Holy crap, President Bush was excoriated daily from every media outlet - even on Fox when commentators like Sean Hannity opposed his immigration overhaul - for eight years! And yes, folks in the Bush Administration had some choice words for the New York Times from time to time, but I don't think journalistic access was ever an issue. Obama appears to be actively cutting himself off from anyone who might dare to ask him a hard question.

Maybe this is why Obama has this penchant for late night television. He can't stand a real journalist asking him questions that don't amount to setting up a T-ball and applauding wildly at every pathetic swing.

I cannot believe Obama is such a coward. I can't believe that a President would abuse the power of his office by having his henchpeople take potshots at a private enterprise for simply airing viewpoints that differ from his own. Apparently even some liberal media outlets cannot stomach this pantie-waist hysteria.

Every day the Obama Administration proves that it is made up of a gaggle of truly small-minded, cowardly yes-people without a hint of gumption, intestinal fortitude, or tolerance for differing viewpoints.

But hey - what would you expect from a gang of lockstep liberal goons?

Read the link, Sean. Obama and his ilk have been picking on Fox, Hannity et al since the election campaign. Now that he's President, ought he not behave in a more Presidential way?

If it's ok for Obama to abuse the power of the Oval Office, I'd say that pretty much nullifies any criticism of Bush.

Why would Obama avoid Fox if he's not afraid of a few hard questions?

Tony Blair has more balls than this guy!

I see criticizing opinions of Obama on all cable news networks. Have for quite a while. But then I watch all of them.

Fox is about as fair & balanced as Boss Limbaugh.

Criticism of Obama on other outlets generally amounts to him not being liberal enough - NOT challenging his assumptions or policies outright.

The only thing balanced about Fox is that it at least considers conservative viewpoints, thereby balancing (just barely) all the other leftist parrots and Obama cheerleaders on the other side of the media see-saw.

There was a time that journalists were sceptical of both parties, of whoever was running the government. Those days are gone. The liberal media got us in our current mess, got us this impotent, inexperienced president and his band of merry fairies and mess ups. I watch very little TV news at all. I occasionally watch Keith Olbermann to see if he is still the nutty fruitcake he has been for the last couple of years, and he is. Glenn Beck is probably out at the other end of the spectrum, but I feel his frustration. We see this nation following Obama to the cliff and it will probably follow him over the cliff into the sea. We see this experiment in freedom, America, slipping away. Obama Socialism is right around the corner. Obama was raised by Communists and the liberal media totally ignored all that. Only people like Limbaugh, Beck, and Hannity tried to warn us. Evidently the majority of journalists today are OK with all that, which makes me wonder why anyone would want to listen to them or anything they have to say.

The main thing that seems to be missing here is FOX news' conservatives(Beck and Hannity) don't hide the fact they are conservative and the journalists who just report the news don't hold any bias, they just report the news.

No matter how conservative FOX news is overall they will never be as Liberal as the others.  The other day that socialist bum Bernie Sanders said the Democrats have "overwhelming support" for healthcare bill they are trying to force down our throats and the person interviewing him on MSNBC didn't even flinch.

Everyone should read Bernie Goldberg's book Bias.  It will amaze you no matter what side of the aisle you are on.  The people you hear on the news that seem to slant way to the left, they honestly don't believe they lean and think they are right up the middle main stream.  This is why Dan Rather went down in flames.

And no-one seems to point out that FOX news continues to pound everyone else in the ratings.  Liberals think FOX news slants so far to the right because for the last 20 years they've been listening to the massive slant to the left of the main stream media.

LoL.  Fox is literally an arm of the Republican party.  Just like NBC is an arm of the Democrat party.  CNN is not biased.  It is global and Americans all the way down to Al Gore are conservative when placed on a global standard but it's not biased.  It's global.

Duh Fox rips on them ratings wise.  Nobody watches a channel for the News.  Is there even a channel that honestly tries to compete with Fox's Sunday night line up?  What chanel is American Idol on?  How bout House?  I could go on but I won't.  They have shows that get good ratings and nobody turns the channel because the news is basically the same everywhere.

Sean-Holy crap what has happened to you?  Is this a black thing?  You used to be this centrist with reasonable opinions now you are this left-wing dunderhead that comes out with things that are about sensible as Sheltercrow.  Fox news high ratings are because they have other successful shows?  LOL!  That's a new one.  CNN slants to the left and everyone knows it.  The only thing that saves them is they slant no where near as far as the others.
  • SeanRenaud said on Oct 17, 2009....
CNN is a global network.  The world is liberal.  America is Conservative.  These things are facts.  Do you honestly believe that anybody watches a news station because it has a good cast?  Seriously?  Not because they were halfway through the Simpsons and they saw a commertial about a bear that walked into a 7 Eleven?  Cus if so you're insane.
  • ALIENated said on Oct 17, 2009....

And no-one seems to point out that FOX news continues to pound everyone else in the ratings.

They point it out quite often (at least O'Reilly does) on FOX News.

Sean, you do know that FOX has a news only cable channel, right? That it the one that beats out CNN, MSNBC, etc., on the news station ratings, not their entertainment channels on basic and cable TV. If I turn to an all news network, it is usually FOX News network. House or 24 is not on that network. I do watch a bit of other networks, like CNN, CNBC, and MSNBC, just to see how they are slanting (or ignoring) a story. None of them reported the whole Obama story. Even Hannity cancelled his Obama history show, probably out of respect for the office of the president.

"Do you honestly believe that anybody watches a news station because it has a good cast?"

All I have to say is, Juliet Huddy, Courtney Friel, Gretchen Carlson and Jenna Lee. They can read the news to me all day long.

The only hotties on CNN has are Brianna Keilar and Kiran Chetry - and Chetry is a Fox alum!

All MSOBAMA has is that great fat farce Olbermann.
