After I posted a few articles to hubpages.com I got an email from a happy reader saying it was refreshing to read things that weren't about technology. A few days later, where I had read the top 10 writers on hubpages it dawned on me that the articles with the most traffic are the ones about technology.
When I was in Jr. High School outside headhunters came in and did lectures about the wonderful world of technology and that all the best careers would be in those fields. And I remember thinking 'technology, blech, what about art and dance and music.' I wasn't the least bit interested in that boring technology stuff.
So now fast forward to 2006. I still don't know what an IPOD is, I have no idea what a blackberry really does unless I am baking a pie, I don't think I could write five hundred words on maximizing a website for a search engine, I don't have a pilot's license, I've never played Everquest and I have your very bare bones version of a cellphone. I've never sent a text message. I've never had cable TV. And I lived 3 very happy years without a TV. At the moment I am out of printer ink and haven't bothered to buy more. And I've never had a scanner. I had a digital camera that I used like a fiend until it stopped working one day. And I don't have the money or the inclination to replace it right now.
At least I know how to do email and use Front Page, but like I said, technology has mostly passed me by.
In short, I am a dinosaur.
