  I don't think you get over it, so much as you learn how to package it up smaller, tuck it away, and take it with you.  Sure, there will always be a piece of you that you hold special for that person, but that piece might just get a little smaller with every day.  That's not to say it'll disappear, but just that it won't take as much priority in your life from day to day.

  but...you'll probably also look back at this guy a few months or years from now and wonder why you ever thought he was the be-all end-all in the first place (when you eventually meet his better "replacement" your next boyfriend, or the even better "replacement" that will follow).
