Tell me, Is it possible for a girl and a guy to be 'JUST' friends?  Me and Dino have been best friends for 5 years.  A few people have thought something was going on between us.  I guess because we hung out last night.  It kind of bugs me, I mean there isn't always something going on between a guy and girl.

Totally it can happen.  It takes a certain level of trust, maturity, communication and understanding.  I think there are often times when others have to nit pick about it and claim you're more than just friends purely because they're a little upset that you CAN do it, and maybe they can't.

If the guy is single and doesn't want to be... no.
It's the way we're built.  The urge to breed will overcome any maturity he might otherwise muster.

Married guys can have LOTS of lady friends.  We can even put off those ladies who might wish to lure us into foolishness.

Of course if Dyingwife left me by grave or taking leave of her senses...  it's good to have lots of candidates available.  (Maybe a few of which would STILL find me attractive if I weren't married anymore.  It's the forbidden fruit thing.  You don't see the bruises of the fruit you can't reach.)

Women act the same way but they don't need to be married.  A stand up comedian called them "In-Case-Of-Emergency-Break-Glass Guys".  Lots of guys they'd get with, but their trying to do better.  That's the way THEY're built.  Make the best baby possible, but make sure you get SOMETHING.

I once had a guy friend of mine cue me on the male psyche....that most guy are usually friends with women they are attracted to and who they can turn into potential dates or booty calls if the need ever arose.

I do think though that the sexes can "just" be friends. That doesn't necessarily mean that there wont be any emotions involved though...it so happens that there is a certain level of appreciation and respect that keeps the friendship line from  being crossed. And there is no denying have  a friend of the opposite sex does feed the ego somewhat....and they do come in handy as advisors when it comes to romantic relationships.

My answer is a resounding yes, I have lots of women friends and my wife is not jealous or resentful in any way of them.

One is my ex-girlfriend before my wife, who has her own family of adult children now, we have been friends for 40 years.

Another is a woman who lives just over the road from us, both my wife and myself used to work with her, she is a single mum, and I go over for coffee and a chat nearly every day. We have known each other for 25 years now, and my wife is just as friendly towards them as me.

People need other people's companionship, this is regardless of sex, and sexual orientation.

I somewhat agree with what dyingman is saying, however, should sex be a reason to not be friends?

Most of the male friends that I have want to have sex with me, and likely would not be my friend if they did not want to have sex with me, its part of the attraction to a member of the opposite sex.  Not sure if I am explaining this to my full abilities.  (similar to what cntlvmenuf had to say)

Sex is a part of life, and everyone wants to do it!  Why not share it with your friends??!! Ha!
