  My family just went through this with one of my sisters.  Not the same exactly, but intervention had to be done.  I'm sorry to hear of this, and I think you are in the same spot as I am.  Not much you can really do, but something has to be done.
   
  If you can't do anything, for whatever reason, maybe someone else will step up who is closer to the situation?  I can only say, I know how it feels and hope for the best.

  This is certainly tough.  I don't know what other advice I could offer, but just don't hold yourself responsible for anything if things don't go the way you hope they do, okay?  You're only one person, and you can't be expected to be everywhere, do everything, and make every decision.  This might be a time to really get some tough love going, but then it might not.  I don't really know what to say, but I will be keeping you in my thoughts.
