Whereas all of the biggest world religions seem to want their leader,  their Saviour,  their deity to be the most revered in the world where is the love that the Masters of each of these religions told the people to live???What power for each religion to have to tell millions to do their bidding and watch them do it.  Imagine all knees bent to worship one god,  one diety,  one MastYet what religion has ever stood up and publicly ordered its followers to not go to war no matter who ordered them to do so??What religion has ever ordered men to stop abusing their women and children and enforced that??What religion has ever commanded that resources be shared and that no one can pollute them in any way?  Yet how many rangle every day over controlling a womans womb,  over who can marry and who cannot,  over what is acceptable to eat, do or wear???If all wanted wars to stop every religion would command their followers to not vote for war,  support war or go to war. One must look at the destruction of wars all over the world and see the rivers and forests descimated and the lives of the people and their children destroyed. Their ways to live destroyed. Their crops destroyed so they must starve or move to the bigger cities and live in poverty on the steets just to survive. Is that what we will just continue to do? Why don't the religions stand up for what they SAY they believe in??

Which religion does not believe in war?

If you look at the Old Testament, it's chock full of stories of the Hebrews and Israelites going to war for their land and their people.

One of Hinduism's seminal texts, the Bhagavad Gita, has a battlefield as its background.

Mohammed rose to leadership in his area of the world by establishing an army in Medina and then raiding Mecca.

Over the course of history, Buddhists in China and Japan and China and Korea combined their religious philosophy with martial arts studies.

It seems logical to blame religious leadership for all the trouble in the world, but those who do have it exactly backwards - religion itself is not at fault, humanity is at fault and constantly falls short of religious teachings.

One need only look at the religious leaders to see that they do not even live by the golden rule in their own lives.  Neither do they follow the "do not judge" or  most of the other things that Jesus and the other Masters came to teach.  They do not teach their congregations how to live respectful of all people rights. They,  as leaders, have a historical record of separating people not bringing them together. They call people names,  they judge and criticize.  Who needs more of that??They could work with their congregations to end domestic violence,  the abuse of children and racial equality. If they could cure their own selves,  their own flock they would be a light to the world.

I think you give religious leaders far more authority than they really have. That is why many of the most shall we say famous ones tend to be negative in their teachings.

It also seems to me that a very false portrait of Jesus has been painted over the last few decades. If all Jesus did was preach peace and love he would have faded into history like so many other minor prophets. Jesus achieved his own notoriety by pissing a lot of very powerful people off. He did not back down from an argument, and there are many many instances in the gospels where he comes off as quite judgmental about the way folks were doing things in his day.

Just think about it this way - the Son of Man (if you buy into this) came to Earth, preached a message of love and human beings - religious leaders and leaders of government - crucified him. Even God's only begotten Son could not convince people to mend their ways.

What chance does a preacher have these days???
