Twyla dear, I know you often have opportunities to rub elbows with celebs. When you run back here to tell us about it, I sit here starry eyed and soak it all in. Well, today Twyla I had my own little encounter and it put a smile on my face for the rest of the afternoon.

Here goes. I climbed into my elderly car and headed out to the local Walmart to buy groceries for the week. I was a bit tired because I had been running around all day and I was feeling a bit sorry for myself because I am the only one around here that is capable of doing all the errands. I dropped off a bill and then headed out of town. Stopped at a light, I watched two people cross the street in front of me. Just feet from me actually. The woman was slight and attractive, no makeup but a wild head of hair and a slender body in jeans and dark shirt. A young man was laughing and chatting with her which made me grin, and THEN it hit me. It was Rhea Perlman. Danny Devito's wife, and a wonderful actress in her own right. I used to howl when I watched her on Cheers. (By the way, she is so much more attractive in person! She is 60 and doesn't look more than early 40's.) She and Danny have a son who is a student in the local college and they are visiting this weekend.

So. Did I scream out the window.... I LOVED YOU IN CHEERS RHEA! ??  Did I wave madly, or perhaps even stop the car and ask for an autograph? No. I thought I'd let her continue her private moment with her son, walking down the street in a little town in the middle of nowhere. I thought I'd let her be  "regular people" for another moment. And me? I drove out to Walmart feeling a little more special and glad it was ME running the errands.

Just wanted to share my encounter with my SC friends. I hope you had a little sparkle in your day too!

Oh, wow, I loved Rhea Perlman in Cheers! You have to carry a camera with you, Woman, even a disposable one.
    Rhea Perlman...cool.

That's so cool!  I probably would have done the same thing, though.  I haven't had the chance to rub elbows with more than one or two celebs, but when I did, I was just hanging back.  It's hard to realize that they are just people like us who have different jobs...just that more people recognize them because of their media coverage.  But I do get star struck, and I can think of lots of people I would like to see just crossing the street like that.  I would be talking about it for the rest of my life.

(I liked Carla on Cheers because of her caustic, sarcastic humor like an aunt I had)

Do you live where Johnny Depp might walk by?  Be there soon......

I'll bet she wouldn't have minded in the least, Woman.  I'm still watching out for John Cusack for Pickersplock.  I missed RuPaul by minutes just a few weeks ago.

That must have been fun, woman.

I've only had one celeb encounter.

I was at a Silent Film Festival many years ago and walked down the street with Patrick Duffy of Dallas fame.  He was a speaker before one of the films.  I was thrilled that he said hello to me.

Discreet wasn't really possible. I would have ruined their moment. So far everyone has believed me anyway!!
