"I will always cherish the initial misconceptions I had about you." -Unknown
One of the groups I belong to on FB is the Sarcasm Society. It's so ...... ME! I'm a big fan of it. I use it more than I use cleaning supplies. So this morning when they had the quote above I nearly peed my pants laughing. OMG! How true!
We all attempt to put our best foot forward when we first meet people. Maybe that's deceptive, but it's very common. We dress up for interviews knowing that if we're hired, a year down the road we'll be wearing stuff that barely meets the dress code. We go on first dates freshly showered, hair done up, make up impeccable, etc. knowing that if we hit it off and become a couple that at some point hair in a ponytail and sweats will be as much effort as we put into our appearance on a sunday afternoon.
So I think it's okay to remember fondly those first few meetings when we gave a damn about how we appeared to that other person. We should all in good humor admit that we would run shrieking if the "real" them had been our first impression. Laugh at how relaxed we are about the imperfections we tried to camoflage.
Does this strike a chord in you too?
