WATER
#1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
(Likely applies to half the world population.)

#2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak
that it is mistaken for hunger.

#3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as 3%.

#4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs
for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of
Washington study.

#5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

#6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of
water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain
for up to 80% of sufferers.

#7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term
memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on
the computer screen or on a printed page.

#8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of
colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast
cancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop
bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water
you should drink every day?

COKE
#1. In many states the highway patrol carries
two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from
the highway after a car accident.

#2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke
and it will be gone in two days.

away the corrosion.

#6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola
to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

#7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan,
wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake.
Thirty minutes before ham is finished, remove the foil,
allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy .

#8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke
into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run
through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains.
It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:
#1 the active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid.

acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major
contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.
#2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the
commercial trucks must use a hazardous Material place
cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.
#3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean
engines of the trucks for about 20 years!
Now the question is, would you like a glass of water?

or Coke?

I just went to the frig and got myself a bottle of water. Interesting facts! Thanks for sharing!
  • sigroid75 said on Sep 24, 2006....
yeah, i was really shaken with the facts. i don't
drink coke everyday, mostly when i go to mcdonalds
and jollibee where they serve softdrinks with our
value meals. but still, it disturbed me.

u know when i told mom about this, she reminded
me that she uses Sprite as a meat tenderizer. she
mixes sprite while boiling tough so as to speed up
    the cooking time.

your right penmaster, juices (the real ones) are still
the best alternative. but since here in the Philippines
it's quite expensive, water is still the best alternative.:-)
  • JadeLondon said on Sep 24, 2006....
Yes, I was familiar with some of that (Coke) info. I am a Georgia peach, from Atlanta, in fact. So, I guess there isn't anyway of getting around it. :)

I still drink Coke, but I must give myself a bit of credit--in more recent years, I have realised the benefit of water. I swore off soda for three months in an effort to shed the last bit of baby weight. I drank Propel fitness water like it was going out of style. I shed over twenty pounds in that time.

I don't drink coffee because it gives me horrible heartburn. But I will drink a glass or two of soda.

    Thanks for the facts!

Oh, and did you know Diet Coke is listed by OSHA as a hazardous material? The NutraSweet it contains can make you go blind (the syrup concentrate).

Also, depending on where in the world you go to McDonald's, the Coke could be calibrated differently. So, Coke in America may taste different than overseas. Being as I have never been overseas, I cannot suggest which might taste better. And I also cannot attest as to WHY the company does that.

Water is still the best alternative drink that is healthy to the body... We need pure and clean liquid for our internals... Water is H20. Oxygen is important to us as well as our cells...

Water is still the UNIVERSAL drink for all!

JL: i was so close to going to georgia. we had a drive from
orlando to jacksonville and was told that the next city
would be the territory of georgia, is that right?:-)

i think that for some people the effects are worse because
when they drink colas, they don't drink water afterwards.
in our house, after drinking cola each from a small glass
filled with ice cubes, we then drink at least a glass of
water. i think it is merely a habit of my folks, but for me
i drink water merely because I would get sore throat if
i dont, which will develop into a cough.
  • sigroid75 said on Sep 24, 2006....
ur right xerendipity, but just a thought, would coke
or other sodas be okay if taken ocassionally and drank
    with water afterwards?

in my case, i always have a bottle of water in my
bag that i carry around with me. but just a thought, no?
like during parties, or at least once a week?

    what do you think?:-)
  • xerendipity said on Sep 25, 2006....
    Hello Sig,

It's ok to drink it occasionally. Let's not deprive ourselves with those drinks...

Having a bottle water always is a good sign that you're hydrating yourself.

Anyway, you may take your share in drinking tea too that is beneficial to our cells.
  • sigroid75 said on Sep 25, 2006....
oh yeah, tea...and this afternoon, i went to buy
roasted chicken and saw that they were selling
fresh milk and those flavored ones. i got a 500ml
bottle and finished it off in one sitting.

then i remembered, let's have milk, for all the calcium
    that our bones needs, right?

as women, we'll need lots of those.:-)

alienated already posted sometihng like this.

moreover, this is an exact copy of an email i received. You should be original on your blog. i will never click the ads of someone who merely cuts and pastes email forwards. you are fucking lame.

I got that coke e-mail several months ago. Below is an e-mail I got about Vodka last week. I checked snopes.com and didn't find anything about it (regarding Vodka) being false, but I may not have looked hard enough:-) Someone tell my why any other alcohol wouldn't do the same things?

    Vodka, who knew?!?!
    1. To remove a bandage painlessly, saturate the bandage with vodka. The solvent dissolves adhesive.

    2. To clean the caulking around bathtubs and showers, fill a
trigger-spray bottle with vodka, spray the caulking, let set five
minutes and wash clean. The alcohol in the vodka kills mold and mildew.

    3. To clean your eyeglasses, simply wipe the lenses with a soft, clean cloth dampened with vodka. The alcohol in the vodk a cleans the glass and kills germs.

    4. Prolong the life of razors by filling a cup with vodka and letting your safety razor blade soak in the alcohol after shaving. The vodka disinfects the blade and prevents rusting.

    5. Spray vodka on vomit stains, scrub with a brush, and then blot dry.

    6. Using a cotton ball, apply vodka to your face as an astringent to cleanse the skin and tighten pores.

    7. Add a jigger of vodka to a 12-ounce bottle of shampoo. The alcohol cleanses the scalp, removes toxins from hair, and stimulates the growth of healthy hair.

    8. Fill a sixteen-ounce trigger-spray bottle and spray bees or wasps to kill them.

    9. Pour one-half cup vodka and one-half cup water in a Ziploc freezer bag and freeze for a slushy, refreshable ice pack for aches, pain or black eyes.

    10. Fill a clean, used mayonnaise jar with freshly packed lavender flowers, fill the jar with vodka, seal the lid tightly and set in the sun for three days. Strain liquid through a coffee filter, then apply the tincture to aches and pains.

    11. To relieve a fever, use a washcloth to rub vodka on your chest and back as a liniment.

    12. To cure foot odor, wash your feet with vodka.

13 Vodka will disinfect and alleviate a jellyfish sting.

    14. Pour vodka over an area affected with poison ivy to remove the urushiol oil from your skin.

    15. Swish a shot of vodka over an aching tooth Allow your gums to absorb some of the alcohol to numb the pain.

I'll take a large McDonald's Coke with that great giant straw and damn the consequences......AHHHHHH!!!!!!!
  • boyzmom said on Sep 25, 2006....
Water is a good thing since our bodies are mostly water. I remember in school being told that sodas will put a hole in a cement floor. That would take a lot of time but it was a good deterrant for the kids that thought they should be able to have colas in the gym.
Thanks for the information though, about using cola as a cleaning agent, I may use that fact.
  • sigroid75 said on Sep 25, 2006....
    hello green discharge!

honestly, i do not have time to read everyone's blogs, so
it is not surprising that i haven't read alienated's blog.
dyingman has written something similar, something close
to his life, he indicated it, so i read it.

you're right, i got it from my email and it's not original.
how could it be my own because i'm not in the medical
field, nor anything science, so i wouldn't know the effects
of phosphoric acid on the body nor on rust. but i blogged about it simply because i was really troubled when i read
it and thought that a great number of others (esp since
that Coke and other sodas still is very popular) might find
use for it. if the news got to me late, then i assume that
    many still don't know it.

read the earlier comments and see their appreciative
words, mainly because the news came to us rather
    late.

if you find my blogs rather offensive, it is your prerogative
not to visit my site nor read my entries. i'm not asking you
to, nor asking you to click on my ads. if you do, then
    thank you.

this is the first time that somebody has written something
negative about me in soulcast. but hey, there is always
    a first time for something.:-)

i just wondered why you got so pissed off with my entry
when all i meant was to share something i thought would
be useful. then i realized, your description about yourself
    more than sums it up.

that's okay, if that is your nature, then it is my nature
not to fight back.:-) it like the story of a man who tried
to save a scorpion. he was trying to save a scorpion
from drowning, but the scorpion kept biting him. a friend
said why he wants to save something that keeps on
biting, he answered, it's the nature of the scorpion to
keep on biting anything that it thinks will harm him. but
the man continued to save the scorpion because it is
in his nature to care and love.

so if you wanna pick a fight, you came to the wrong
    person.:-)
  • sigroid75 said on Sep 25, 2006....
tikiwop: that's what my former officemate would
probably say, too. hahaha she drinks coke like
water all day long. and she's so thin!!!!

dailyaches: thanks for sharing that vodka tip. i
copied and saved it...hmmm...if it's not so expensive
i would really try it as an astringent if it will really
    tighten my pores.

boyzmom: no problem mom...which is the reason
why i posted this blog in the first place. i know a
lot of people would benefit from it.:-)
  • missb said on Sep 26, 2006....
You know what's funny? I'll have the vodka, please... :)

Reading the coke vs vodka, I kinda think Vodka actually benefits more than coke :D

I'm not a big fan of soda myself, anyway... But thanks for the info, Sig. I'll tell my bf about it. He's a coke lover.

Btw, what's up with ur bf? Is he going to Aceh?

    Cheers!
  • sigroid75 said on Sep 26, 2006....
hi missb! thanks for ur concern but so far, he has
not decided yet. there's a group of missionaries going

thanks for asking!:-) and yeah, let's laydown a
    bit on our coal intake.:-)

    God bless ya!:-)
