I can’t believe it, I have had swine flu. I don’t know is anyone else thinks this way, but I just never thought I would get it. There was a special panorama programme called everything you need to know about swine flu, I watched it whilst still recuperating to see if there was anything I could do to get better quicker.... It made me feel worse. There were some serious concerns over taking the antiviral medicine tamiflu, claiming it makes little difference and has adverse side effects. I have taken it myself over the past week and it did actually make me feel better. I had my doubts about taking it, especially since it has been banned for some people in Japan. According to research tamiflu causes abnormal physiological behaviour in younger patients.
Having just about come out the other side my advice would be to rest a lot. I would personally recommend tamiflu as it worked for me, but I took it along with beechams cold and flu relief and extra vitamin C and Zinc supplements specially made for helping the immune system. I also ate quite well, making sure I ate plenty of garlic. It sounds odd, but it’s always worked for me, the use of garlic as an antibacterial agent is widely known.
The panorama programme said that every individual will get swine flu over the next three years, I would say, don’t panic... it really wasn’t that bad, just like regular flu just with lots of symptoms at once. It is serious for the elderly, young, people with a medical condition (asthma and diabetes) and pregnant women. These will be the people whom will be given priority with the swine flu vaccine.
Basically don’t let it stop you doing the things you want to do, I am pretty sure I got it from someone at work, so it was completely unavoidable.
