I have been given the chance to go to South America completely out of the blue. I got a letter from an old friend I met at University and has since moved back to Brazil. She is now getting married and would like us to go and be with her on her wedding day.
I haven’t seen the friend in question for about three years, since she moved back home. She was invited to our wedding to be one of my wives bridesmaids two years ago, but the cost of the flights for the trip was too expensive for either of us to afford, which was a shame. Now after working for a few years we are in a better place financially, and she did give us plenty of time to save up specially.
There are a few other considerations we need to discuss before deciding whether to go or not, the first and most important is the nut allergy which my wife has. Of course we would get insurance for travel for the trip, but I am not very happy about putting her in possible danger. The language barrier would be the major issue here as I don’t know any Portuguese.
We have also been considering a ‘trip of a lifetime’ type holiday, whilst we are still young and childless. This would be the perfect opportunity for this trip as we could stay in many places on the way there. We watched a programme on TV about the deals on property and land you can get on property in Brazil a few months ago (before the invite) and we were both amazed by the beauty of the views, of course a programme like that only shows a place in its best light so it will be worth doing some more research before we decide.
I think we both know what our heart is telling us about this one, pity how the logical head part always gets in the way.
