I am very good at spending money, its one of my skills. Luckily my wife has quite a bit of money that she was given from her parents. She is also good at spending money, not as good as me but she gives it a good go.
To be honest she probably curbs my spending more than I have to curb hers, she is defiantly the money conscious one of the two of us. That said she has never had a cash ISA, despite at one time having around £15,000 in her account. £5000 of which was just in a bog standard current account!
Now that she is starting to amass savings again, I am trying to convince her to put her money into a more sensible place. She has had National savings bonds in the past, so she may find a bond that is at a fixed rate less scary than cash ISA for her savings account.
The best ISAs allow instant access, which is a bonus that bonds do not have. It would be frustrating to need funds for something and find we can’t get access to our own money.
It really is up to her what she does with her own money, as long as she continues to be carful with it, what does it matter. She is always on the look out for a bargain and is there is something we want, we will do our homework and find the best price, the internet has become a valuable tool for saving us quite a bit of money. I find it amazing that you can buy the same thing from two different shops (whether on the internet or high street) for very different prices. For example a Krups coffee machine can be brought online for either £59.99 or £119.00. Who buys it for the expensive price?!
