I didn't open until yesterday. Mom and I both got really bad colds about a week ago and just couldn't get all the last minute things done.

Anyway, so yesterday turned out to be pretty interesting. About 5 minutes after we opened, a man came in and i recognized him from a few days ago when he and his fiancee came in hoping we were open. He was by himself and looking around. I showed him the smallest sizes we had because his fiancee is incredibly tiny. She's about 4'8" and 85lbs.  He smelled a bit of alcohol, but seemed okay. He apologized and said he'd had a wine cooler for breakfast. Seemed a bit more like 4 or 5.....or more likely a wine cooler and a six pack.

anyway, so he left and as he was walking out the door a buddy of his happened to be walking down the street and they hugged each other and kinda play wrestled and were talking and the buddy suggested they go find a place to "catch up" and the guy that was just in the store....a bit drunk....says... "this place is just fine!" and he and his buddy plop down ON MY FRONT ENTRANCE STEPS!!! and proceed to swear and wrestle and talk really loudly and everything.

littlest was with me in the store and started to follow them out the front door, but i quietly called her in and we went in the office and i called my dad and begged him to come and gently move them along. I knew the one guy was ready to put down a large amount of money for two dresses and alterations so i didn't want to lose him as a customer but at the same time i just could NOT have two loud drunkish men out on my front entrance WRESTLING of all things. *sigh*

but they ended up leaving just before my dad pulled up in his truck about 15 minutes later.

when the guy was in the store he told me how they met......apparently she'd ridden into Forks (the little logging town about an hour west of Port Angeles) from Colorado on the back of a motorcycle......and he noticed that her boyfriend was being mean to her so he punched him out and said "you're with me now little lady"   *rolling my eyes* and they've been together every since...... that was about a year ago i guess.

He'd said he'd send her in today but she ended up coming in with him yesterday a little before we closed.  She tried on a bunch of dresses. Formal wear runs really small so the 4's ended up fitting her fine and the 6's would do if they were taken in.  But everything normally floor length she tried on I'll have to chop about a foot and a half off the bottom. She tried on one tea length gown, beautiful with a full tulle skirt and slight dropped waist that ended up fitting her like it was meant to be floor length..but even that one i'll have to hem up about 4 inches so it's actually floor length!

very interesting first day. There were a few other customers....but even prom girls tend to come in and look 2 or 3 times before they actually make a decision so i wasn't really expecting to sell anything the first day.  The tiny woman is going to be back in around 3ish.....and make a final decision and then i'll be busy with alterations. a bit scary...considering i've never actually taken scissors to a wedding dress before....but oh well.
