I think this has been done before, but it's always fun.  They say the things you carry are a reflection of your personality.  So, by extention of that logic, the things you have in your car may also reflect who you are.

What is in your car right now?  What do you think it says about you?

Not alot, I actually cleaned my car out although in the glove box you will find the following.

    Beef Jerky
    Pens
    Tampons (LOL)
    Brush
    Lighter
Tiny bottles of scotch (hey they aren't mine)
    Pipe cleaners
Bills (best place to hide them)
    Party poppers (IDK)
    Tissues
    Nuts and bolts (IDK)
An old and definitely gross chocolate wrapped in paper.. eewww

I got a small glove box too so its crammed.
  • uniquely-ironic said on Sep 03, 2009....

In my car at this moment are:

    paper napkin

    dozen straw wrappers

hair bands in cup holders and glove box

one seagull feather (I didn't not take it, it was found)

    pen

    empty box

    small wooden bat

    broken hair clip

    lightweight jacket

a billion or so receipts for car maintenance and repair in the glove box

    hand lotion

    cloth shopping bags

    old mapquest directions

I'm pretty sure this means that I am a person who enjoys spur of the moment trips but semi-prepares for them (jacket, hair accessories, lotion).  I'm not even sure what the receipts mean, the straw wrappers also hint at my inability to sit down at restaurants to eat that often.

Lu - I have to laugh at beef jerky and scotch!  I like that idea of hiding the bills in the glove box though there's not room left in mine either.
  • Lucytorial said on Sep 03, 2009....
LOL what does it mean though??? that I have a secret fetish for meat?? what about the pipe cleaners.... I wanna know what it all means.... te he h
  • uniquely-ironic said on Sep 03, 2009....
I'm gonna say your belongings indicate a "be prepared to party" mentality.  I'm assuming the pipe cleaners are for smoking pipes.  So, food, drink and smokes available on the fly.

    Oh my....

    binoculars

    eyeglasses (I don't wear)

paperbacks and shopper news papers you get free in the mail

    my sketch book

scotch tape, for sealing mailing envelopes

    razors---to "spot shave" my legs

suntan oil, to use to shave with

a photo of hubby and me on the visor

My tassle from Tech School graduation

A necklace with rock shaped like an eagle head on a rope.  The "eye" is a hole in the rock to put the cord through!

    I won't go on....the rest is natural trash....Ha.

wombie - is that an "oh my there's too much to list" or an "oh my you girls are real freaks of nature" ?
  • wombat said on Sep 03, 2009....
It was an "Oh my....there's too much to list."  My list is the freak of nature!  But it sure is interesting to see the "odd" things people will have in their vehicle!

Hmm, in my car right now would be:

    Kleenex
    Insurance stuff
    Car info
    Map
    Antifreeze
Plastic grocery bags (for the trash of course)
    CDs
    Pens
    Body Spray
    Dog Leash
Small container (for scooping the water out when it floods the floor boards when it rains a lot, no joke)
Loose change (my car eats it)

I pretty much put my hands on just about everything but the car info, map, & insurance papers at least every couple of days surprisingly.  Daily for some things.
  • uniquely-ironic said on Sep 03, 2009....

wombie - do you go through the mail in your car?  seems like a lot of paper things.  Also, sentimental since you have the pic, tassel and necklace in there.

SL - lots of water! lol  but the rest leads me to believe you spend a lot of time in the car with kids?  (entertainment and water)

Hege - I get a "be prepared" vibe from your things, well, except the body spray, but that is preparation of a social kind?

  • Hegemone said on Sep 03, 2009....
Yeah, the body spray is for every morning that I work, after I've smoked ... keeps my boss from knowing I do it ( because if I do it she will surmise that her daughter does it and she will go postal, long pain in the ass thing that really the sooner she catches somebody the better) and also keeps me from smelling like an ash tray.
  • uniquely-ironic said on Sep 03, 2009....
Hege - I don't get the connection between you smoking and her daughter, but you sound like you have her all figured out.
  • Hegemone said on Sep 03, 2009....
Oh, sorry 'bout that.  I've mentioned my friend OFHG in posts you might have seen, well my boss is her mom.  Long ago when we first became friends her mom was of the mindset that OFHG could not have friends who smoked because that would mean she smoked too, and her mom would go postal.  We smoked, and OFHG smoked before she even met us, so the lies began there ... and then after about three years I started working for her mom, and that brings us to now, and why I still have to cover it up.  I have learned a lesson from all this though, don't intermingle work with friends, it gets tricky, especially when your boss tries to bait you to ask you what her daughter was doing the night before ... and what her boyfriend is really like ... lol.
  • uniquely-ironic said on Sep 03, 2009....
Hege - oh, that would suck!  Yes, I'm very careful to not mix work with personal with rare exceptions.

old textbook (also in the floorboard)

CDs (in the storage area between the seats)
    change (in the change holder)
an old parking permit for some place that I paid for parking (thrown on the dash below the speedometer)
car manual, insurance card, registration, a couple of receipts from the instant oil change place down the road (in glove compartment)

beautiful - haven't seen you here in a while.  Good to see you back!  Your car sounds like a mom mobile!  Your boys sound like they have lots of energy :)

My pick up truck is pretty much my daily driver so I'll go with that.
I keep a razor sharp knife and a very pointed center punch in my console.
They are both secured with velcro and are easily accessible from my seat. I keep them in case I'm involved in an accident. If you damage you're vehicle's battery in an accident you're power windows won't work and you may have a jammed door. I'd use the center punch to effortlessly put a hole through my window. I know I could elbow my window out but that's not as easy to do if you're under water. I keep the razor sharp knife in case I need to cut my seatbelt if the catch fails to release. I'm always willing to help someone in need, if I see you in trouble I'd do the same for you.  Trust me I'm not paranoid, and I'm not a panicky kind of guy but a vehicle fire or an overturned vehicle in a ravine can be deadly in seconds. I keep both of those tools in all of my vehicles.
A lot of folks depend on me, I'm going to do my best to stick around as long as possible.

I have an small air compressor and a tire plug kit behind my seat in case I get a flat. I have road service but sometimes I don't have time to wait.

I keep my registration for the truck hidden in my door pad.

I keep a small tool box behind my seat it's small, but it has everything I would need if I ran into a problem. My wife gave it to me for a Christmas present years ago, probably one of the most useful presents I've ever gotten.

The only other thing I keep in my truck is a pringles potato chip can half full of change. I don't know how it started but yep, I got a stupid looking pringles can of change in my console :o) .

That's it, I'm not one to have anything around my rear view mirror, not that I have anything against it, I just like all the visibility I can have without obstructions.

Oh there is one other thing I keep in my truck. A razor scraper for bird shit  :o) .       I don't know what the birds around here eat but I do know that it can get mighty hard to get off  :o) .

As far as an ice scraper goes, well that's seasonal. Fun post uniquely-ironic.
I know you're still zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz'n but have a good morning when you wake up ;o)  .

the last 2 mini vans have come with tv's.  it's a cool extra and great to keep kids entertained.  we got caught in a 2 hour traffic jam this year on the way to the shore, and i was thankful for it.

yes, we go thru alot of bottled water in this house.  we recycle the plastic and have tried to cut back by refilling the bottles from the fridge, because the water is filtered thru there- but we still use alot.

i usually leave a case in the van-  and the many times the kids just throw the empties on the floor and i'll have to take a bunch to the bin.

i make it a point to empty the "stuff" that collects in the car every week.  i don't think we'd fit in it otherwise!
  • Zayda said on Sep 04, 2009....
    Hmmm....
    2 umbrellas
three of the textbooks I'm teaching with this semester
    2 legal pads
    wet wipes

in the glove compartment: car registration, insurance information, car manual, flashlight, a dry erase marker (that needs to go to my work office), pens, triple A batteries (for the wireless headsets), a small flashlight

in the storage compartment between the seats: CDs, change, tampons, napkins, wet wipes, kleenex

more change in the change drawer (what looks like it could have been an ashtray about 5 years ago but is lined with material and has a warning sticker in it that says "THIS IS NOT AN ASHTRAY).
a few tabs from soda cans (we collect them and take them to the Ronald McDonald house) in the same change drawer
a button in the same change drawer (I need to remember what it came off of)

an empty diet dr. pepper can in the front cup holders (mine)
an empty mt. dew can (the hubby's)
    post-it note pad
    chapstick
    travel size lotion tubes (several)
wireless headphones in the backs of the seats,
some folded up old mapquest directions (also in the backs of the seats)

    In the back:
2 of those metal water bottles so we always have them with us.
    soccer ball
    shin guards
    canister of tennis balls
    canister of raquet balls
    softball
    baseball
package containing a new innertube for a bicycle tire
    2 blankets
    a poncho
one of those decorative baseball things that looks like your window has shattered and the ball is buried in it. (You would think I would actually put it on the car)
tub of wet wipes (You can never have too many.)
    stadium seats/cushions
    a larger flashlight
    an umbrella
    cloth grocery sacks
oh yeah, and three pairs of sunglasses (all mine because I can't seem to keep up with them but they eventually all end up in the car.)
  • uniquely-ironic said on Sep 04, 2009....
CM - I probably was zzzzz when you commented.  I like the idea of the center punch and sharp knife, but I'm afraid I'd have to put them out of sight in Cali.  (I think it would freak a cop out if they were laying there if you got pulled over.)

Z - the front of your car is remarkably like mine, but the back is definately not.  Sounds like a mix of sports and rolling office ;)  [waves hello to little man]
  • fragglesrock said on Sep 04, 2009....

oh hell, this is a goodie of a post because....

just 2 weekends ago i drove myself and 4 of my friends to a shin-dig and the three passengers in the backseat had quite the "adventure" finding stuff in my backseat...ready?

they found a spatula that they kept whapping eachother with, a small excercise ball that was being bounced and thrown back and forth, pot holders and dishtowels, a can of bug spray (stuck the floor by melted gum), a plate, a fork, a bowl, action figures missing limbs, an empty cup, crushed crackers, 3 ice scrapers (no wonder i can never find one in the trunk), a magic trick book, an umbrella, a 2 foot long dowell rod and enough empty pop cans to save the world.  it was hilarious and sad all at the same time.  can you believe that we were able to fit three adults in the back seat with all that shit?! i have since cleaned the whole thing out!

  • uniquely-ironic said on Sep 04, 2009....
frags - I suspect that bugs used the glue to fix the spray to the floor of the car. ;)
  • Zayda said on Sep 04, 2009....
Uni: For all the stuff in my car, it's remarkably clean. It's amazing how many compartments my SUV has to hide things in. LOL. Of course, if I'm not careful those compartments will soon explode into the interior of the car itself as I tend to overstuff the compartments.

And yeah, it's a combo of a rolling office and sports store. I always have to have paper with me in case I want to jot down writing ideas or a really good teaching idea comes to me in the midst of a soccer game, for instance.

And I really need to sort through the sports equipment and put it in our sport equipment bin in the garage. Although, soccer starts up again in a week for the little man, so all the soccer stuff will probably just stay in my car.

Ohhh...and I just remembered (thanks to Fraggles mention of a dowel) that I have those 2 to 3 foot dowel rods in various sizes in the back of my car too. I have extras from some Cub Scouts project the little guy was working on last March. So, yeah, they've been in my car for nearly 6 months now.

I should find something crafty I can do with them, or I should donate them to the Cub Scout troop. Maybe they can do something with them.

    That's it.

  • uniquely-ironic said on Sep 04, 2009....
ginger - that's not too bad ..... except the watermelon.  I'd be scared of taking a corner real fast and smashing it to bits!
  • gingersoul said on Sep 04, 2009....
LOL...actually....i was thinking to write a post about the experience....lol...

I was turning here and there ...and i was keeping hearing this suspicious "bonk-bonk" in the back of the car...

Only when i arrived at home and went to check what the heck was causing all that noise......i saw my sweet watermelon....

You know? MsStar said we can bake cookies in our cars because of the high heat.....i am telling you...we can also ripe any fruit we need to ...

My watermelon was just deliciously and perfectly riped when i bit into it.....lol.....

Need to do this riping tecnique more often....;-p

Uni I thought of you this weekend and couldn't wait to race back here and tell you about it on this blog!  I was rummaging around in my car (in the little thing in between the seats that holds stuff) I started laughing my ass off b/c I had inadvertantly shoved my fake hair in there one time and it was still in there!  I have a few fake pony's and hair pieces that I add on now and again, I remember I had been to a party and it was bugging me so I took it off on the drive home and stuck in there! What a shock it was to find that ROFLMAO!!!!

  • uniquely-ironic said on Sep 28, 2009....
frags - oh God!  I'd have swerved off the road if I stuck my hand in there and came out with hair. (fake or not)  LOL
