sometimes I really just want to delete a bunch of the things that I've posted here. not now, but sometimes. but I've noticed how it makes me kind of sad when other people delete their posts. especially if something resonated with me. I keep regretting having deleted a particular poem I'd written here because it didn't seem good enough.

is it better to leave your mark on the world, stained and scarred, flaws and all? isn't that what makes us interesting to each other? our human shortcomings and how we struggle with them?

i agree. i also feel sad when other bloggers delete their writings here.
i've never deleted any of my posts (except a few experimental ones).
for me, posting a blog here is like giving a gift to a friend.

well i am guilty in the first degree.... twice. :~(  i did mine only because i felt so.... naked. i am a hider, a run-away, its how i have been for a long time. its like i think someone is going to say... " ain't she a dumbshit!" so..... the last time i deleted all my posts, it took me a hour to continue hitting the delete button. :~(

see..... i am a dumbshit! but i love new ways and changes so, here i go again hunting and pecking away my thoughts. :~)

hey, if i could take it back..... huh.... i would!

have a good day. take care ~see ya....................HI! Moonriver

I can certainly identify with MMI - many of my older posts sit in draft form because I started feeling a little too exposed.  I have social anxiety anyway - so I guess that's the way it translates here on the web.

hmm true- what if you dont want to influence them in a negative way?

thanks for sharing your thoughts. it's interesting to see how other people handle these things or think of them (and it would be nice to hear even more).

for me, when I delete, it usually boils down to feeling stupid about something I've written. especially since I avoid doing much editing and then just slap things up here for anyone to see. other times it's just about deleting the deadwood, my most boring posts, or trying not to sound so deadly serious all the time.

no guilt, mimi! it's your own blog, and therefore your own call to make. : D

and wishy, I know exactly what you mean. it's kind of like having a dream where you're naked in a public place but nobody else is. while some might enjoy that feeling, most of us wouldn't!

I feel brain dead at this moment. I just NEEDED to stop by your post.
  • Misty_Eyed said on Sep 07, 2009....
I think I know the feeling. you could always just say "mixednuts was here"

Understand what you are saying, Misty, and I agree. I will take your words to heart.
  • Misty_Eyed said on Sep 11, 2009....
step- I'll try to take my own words to heart, too. I'm not always sure I agree with myself, but in this case, I guess what I had to say makes some sense.
  • steppenwolf68 said on Sep 12, 2009....
It makes a lot of sense.... Take Brahms, for example, he kept everything back until he was as perfect and developed as he could be. All the others developed and they take you on their musical journey with them. (I'm thinking of Mendelsohns "Te Deum" which he wrote when he was only 17.... then some of his later goodies.)
Your so right, Misty, so right.....
  • Misty_Eyed said on Sep 14, 2009....
well actually, I'm always right! ;-)  wouldn't you know it?
  • Misty_Eyed said on Sep 14, 2009....
(mixed...stop on in and leave a little message. sorry you're feeling so awful!)
  • UnicornForm said on Sep 15, 2009....
never delete poems! all are inspirational!
  • Misty_Eyed said on Sep 15, 2009....
not so sure there, unifo. I occasionally, maybe even frequently, write some real crap poems! but it can be hard to tell which are and which aren't good in one of those writer's moods where it all seems like crap anyway. a person's own writing, that is.
