I just now saw a post of gingers similar to this one.  But, I decided to write mine anyway... it is just a bit different and of course off the wall.

The other day I was wondering if anyone else here "hears" the voice of the person they are reading?  Does your mind picture what they sound like to you?

I know some of us have met each other so I am not talking about that voice.  I am talking about the 'voice' I hear in my head when I read someone here.  Each of you have your own special voice as I read what you have written.  I don't even know I am doing it unless I really concentrate on it... guess its just sorta natural to me.

Am I really nuts, or do others do the same?

Hmmm it's kind of hard to seperate the voices of those I've met from the voice in my head when I read them, but yes.  It's kind of like that.  More so for those I have not met or heard.

What does my voice sound like?

    hi friend.
for me, it depends on who the writer is.

for most, i hear a bland, generic voice, like one that plugs into the computer of a person with a sight handicap.
no distinct tone or timbre or accent, except that it's either male or female.

a few writers here have a distinctive style that jumps at me like a very familiar voice.
your voice, for example, is that of ((awww, shucks, i'm blushing...)) jill clayburgh.
skald's voice, for some vague subliminal reason, is that of meryl streep.

i can hear a few other bloggers' voices clearly in my mind too...

Quiet, lol, you're not alone.  The part where you said you don't even realize you're doing it unless you concentrate is SO true to me, and honestly, lol, as I was reading that I realize that's the same thing I'm doing.  I didn't pay any attention to it until this post, and I thought back, and sure enough, different bloggers that I read do have different voices in my head, lol.

I never realized it either till now, but I hear them according to age, I think.  Oh, I hope no one hears my Judge Judy voice in their head.
I don't hear accents, do you?
Hey Moon, you have a very sexy voice, very Robert Redford.

Uni ~ I can tell you that not all voices in my head sound like they are in RL .  I was very surprised when I heard Skalds voice.  I think, now that I am thinking about it, most of the voices are just male or female, with no real big differences.  I think of yours like Susan Sarandon

moon ~ LOL, I think I am more of a Meryl Streep.  Skalds voice is quite high pitched.. like her singing.  I hear you as like your poetry... soft and gentle, but firm.

hege ~  LOL isn't that funny that we don't really even realize it!

Twyla ~ I think sometimes I do hear accents.  Like if they are from a certain part of the country... I will put the accent with it.. like the southern drawl.  I hear you as a young tiny voice with a southern twang to it.  hehe

    I don't hear other people's voices.  I think I hear my own as if I'm a narrator.

    CW

Quiet~ LOL!  My southern drawl needs a lot of work and even when I was young and tiny I sounded like Fran Drescher.

I never really thought about it, but now it makes me wonder!  Maybe I sort of hear yours, since we've met, and Lucy's because of her accent on video, but mostly I'm with CW.  I think I just hear my own when I read comments.

I try to keep the voices in my head to a minimum. Though some of those voices do seem to like to read certain people. Making up voices that may or may not sound like the writers here will just give me too many voices and I'll never know who I'm talking too when I'm on my own :)

I don't hear different voices per say.  However I do hear different tones depending on who I'm reading.  Your not crazy ^_^

superbozo ~ I never know who I am talking to some of the time either... LOL

simply ~ hmm, that is interesting, "tones", well yes, my voices are different tones as well.

ginger ~ I figure most of the posts people make along the way someone has already had some version of it LOL  but it just goest to show, how much we all may think in common~  :)

    hi quiet friend.
ok, from now on i'll imagine you as sounding like meryl streep.
and skald as someone who sings beautifully in a björk voice... :-)
