It has been a rather quiet day today with the boys gone, Anthony at football practice followed by a light contact scrimmage against another school and Nathaniel at band practice and then hanging around to watch the scrimmage game.

They both came home a couple hours ago and went straight to their rooms exhausted.  I will likely order in tonight as I'm sure neither of them has the energy to cook and I am pretty much not in the mood. 

When they come down later I'll talk it over with them, but I'm quite confident they will agree.  Chinese perhaps!

The quiet was certainly welcome after all the activity of late.  I'm not sure I can take it in large doses just yet although.  I have always been quite active and fully intend on remaining that way well into the future.

I talked with both David and Daniel earlier and they told me that I don't really have to go into the office at all anymore if I don't want to.  I may continue to  go in once a week until they finally tell me to stay away.  I know I will miss it despite my protestations to the contrary.  It has after all been a very real part of my life for many years. 

I have heard rumblings around the office that they are planning some sort of re-retirement party for me.  They did this already once just over two years ago so it hardly seems necessary at this point.  I have in reality just been a temp filling in until things settled down again.  What they do they do I suppose, and I will enjoy it as much as I did the first one.  Perhaps I will enjoy it even more as this time all the pieces are in place to make it permanent.

Jason stopped by earlier with his new girlfriend (his new coach's daughter) and we had a good chat for the few minutes they were here.  He seems quite content with his choice to play soccer over running cross-country this year.  I think it is more to his liking anyway. He just wanted to get away from football and cross-country was an option.

Speaking of Anthony, he received a letter from his parents today.  He did take time to read it before going to his room earlier.  It appears that they have already found a buyer for the house and won't be coming back until late autumn when closing is scheduled, and then they intend to take off again for parts unknown.  I don't quite understand what possesses some people to literally abandon their only child to trot about the globe.  It takes all sorts I suppose!  The rough part is that they have left it to Anthony to see to the disposal of the household goods.  Doesn't seem quite right to me.  I am certain that he will ask me to assist him in that venture and I will gladly aid him in any way I can.

The difference is quite stark really between Anthony and his parents.  He is really rather much a home body, preferring to be near home and with close friends to the sort of gallivanting his parents have taken to.  There is more to this picture than I have been allowed to see I think.

The boys are coming down the stairs so I'll just close this for now.
