The page you were looking for no longer exists

It has been quite a while since I last posted here so I thought I just might write a few thoughts down.

This has been a very busy summer for me and my clan, what with the trips to the shore, camping with the grandsons, backyard barbecues and jaunts to various local and regional amusement parks with the young ones.  I must admit that I have become rather delinquent with regard to communicating with my good friends here at Soul Cast.

I've been around occasionally, even dropped a comment or two here and there.  I simply haven't had the time or energy to do much more than that although.  By the time I was able to settle down in front of the computer I was too damnably tired to have much to say.

With the beginning of school just around the corner the older grand-ones are all busy with sports and band activities.  Jason changed his mind again (I believe I mentioned that he had decided not to play football this year and run cross-country instead)  As soon as the soccer coach got word that Jason wasn't playing football he cornered him and talked him into soccer, so he's busy with the soccer team.  Anthony has his daily  (six days a week) football practice and Nathaniel, Aaron and Elicia are busy with marching band.   All have their first games or competitions within a week of the start of school.

The younger ones are eager for school to begin as seems always the case for them.  Even my little princess, who is now four, eagerly awaits the beginning of pre-kindergarten.

I eagerly anticipate a few moments of peace and quiet once the school year gets under way.  Of course there will be much activity even then with football, soccer and band competitions to attend soon after.  I do so enjoy them.

Nathaniel and it seems Anthony will remain with me for the school year once again.  Last word from Anthony's parents was that they intended to remain in Europe for a still undetermined length of time.  They have decided to put their house up for sale so even should they return it is likely that they will be moving away.

As for Nathaniel, I do believe he is with me for the duration.   Daniel has been trying to talk him into moving back home but at the same time he and Janet have been attempting to make another go at saving their marriage.  Janet remains with her parents but is arranging for someone to be with them 24/7 so she can come home.  She has called me several times over the past few weeks and we have had some rather interesting conversations.  She does miss the kids of course but she really misses Daniel the most.  I hope it works out for them, but I sincerely doubt that under those circumstances that Nate will even consider going home. to stay.

I received the shock of my life over the weekend.  We all gathered together at the old house for a barbecue and both my daughters broke the news to the family that we are about to grow in number by two.  Both Cynthia and Beth had decided that one was enough, but sure enough providence had other ideas as they are both due to deliver in late February or early March.   They are both a tad old fashioned so neither wants to know the gender of their new babies ahead of time.   The men, being practical, think it might be wise to know so they have a better idea how to shop.   The girls both say that there is no need to shop ahead of time, there will be plenty of time later.

We have only one major family outing remaining for the summer, that being a long weekend at the shore with the entire clan over Labor Day weekend.    The business shuts down  the Thursday before and cranks back up again the Wednesday following to give the staff some time to rejuvenate prior to the autumn race to the finish.  That gives us a six day weekend.  Usually we stick close to home, but with all the activities this summer we haven't had the opportunity to all get away together, so Labor Day weekend it is.

The re-organization at the office seems to be going along smoothly, I only spend one or two days a week there of late.  As of September first I am 'outta there!"

So you can see, this summer has been hectic to say the least, but it is beginning to wind down.  Calmer days lie ahead.

There is one thing we didn't do this summer that we had planned, that is the trip to Oregon.  Legal wrangling, family disputes on that end and time have caused us to put that in the back burned for now.   I wasn't looking forward to the trip at any rate.

Well you sure are right, you've been busy!  Congratulations on the new family members coming along.  Sounds like things are ship shape at least, all rolling along.  Enjoy those calmer days when they get here!

Hi Soaring. I miss seeing you here and was glad to read up on your summer. While being a grandfather is wonderful, take some time to rest too. Take care. Woman

Again I am struck by the chaotic beauty of your life, soaring. Congratulations on two grandbabies in the making! I was just re-reading the birth story of my youngest, who just passed the six month mark (and was quite a surprise herself). New life is such a wondrous thing!

heggie - Yeah, I'll enjoy what few moments I get.

wombie - Well, being Gramps is what I'm all about these days.

woman - Oh, I rest when I get the chance.

infernal - Yes, I am certainly looking forward to late winter/early spring.  I know I make my life sound idyllic, but it is far from perfect.  I simply prefer to dwell on the more pleasant aspects.
