Did you hear on the news today that something made a thump on the exterior of the space shuttle while in orbit? I heard just a snippet of a conversation with the astronauts on board stating that they were not joking and that they saw what hit them out the window. That was the end of what the public got to hear. You could tell there was more to the conversation.

This sounds like a case for the X-Files, but it makes me wonder what would happen if it ever did occur. I'm almost certain that the public wouldn't be told about it.

Whatever made the bump was serious enough to NASA to keep the space shuttle in orbit another day.

Where do you stand on the UFO issue?

They exist. No doubt in my mind, however I'd love to have tangible proof.

I'm more prone to believing in extraterrestrials and UFOs then god nowadays.

Supposedly there is an object drifting around the Space shuttle as we type. NASA is trying to figure out if it is part of the ship that is vital, or if it might cause damage to the ship as it attempts to return to Earth. If so they might have to send a rescue mission, which NASA says would effectively end the shuttle program.

Then again, that is what the news says is going on. I havent heard about the astronauts talking about something thumping the shuttle.

I truly believe there is life out there. We are such miracles here... Are we so vain to think we are the only ones? I did not hear about this news piece however.

It was on the radio news this morning with the snippet of the astronauts talking. I also got a CNN alert in my email that said something about it.

I think there is other life out there, too.

No doubt about it they're UFOS. I've seen them myself with my own eyes UFOS Are For Real. The thump may have been caused by a UFO trying to make a too close an observation that it bumped the space shuttle. It's only a matter of time before these Extra Terrestrial Beings reveal themselves to humankind.

I heard the news accounts too and figured that it was all just a big government cover-up. Clearly what really happened is that Santa was out testing a new supersonic sleigh and he needs to work on the yaw adjustment at speed.

I say it's plain old spacedebree. However, on the UFO matter, I do believe that there are alien lifeforms out there in the universe, but UFO != Alien, as UFO = Unidentified Flying Object. A coin thrown through the air is a UFO until someone identifies it as a coin.

It would be excellent if this was someone from another planet though, and the first thing we from earth do is drive them over with our big honking spaceshuttle!

I hope ET has some darn good insurance

I heard that they were shaking the shuttle around, testing their movement jets, and while doing so, something was shaken loose.

I found out later on that it was a garbage bag.

Well, until it was identified as a garbage bag, it was, by definition, a UFO.

Santa! That explains it all. (laughing)

There really may be a logical explanation to the whole shuttle incident. I do think that ET probably knows when we are out there though.

A brilliant white light taps into your consciousness. It lights up the yard, the house, the driveway and bounces off your arm, the shingles on the roof, usually a dull greeen, seem ALIVE with color.
Your hair stands on end...what the...?
Now it has your attention, you gaze wide eyed and mouth hanging wide open up...the light has shifted and holds there
for one second, which seems like an hour. suddenly, it is shooting out into space and in no more than three seconds
it reaches its goal... A super nova lights the sky.  Suddenly
it is a trillion miles away. the nova, all the stars wink out and
all that is left is an impression on the brain. You stand there for a good ten minutes without moving and you are laughing and crying for the joy of what you have witnessed. Your hair, you notice is still standing on end. Norm, neighbor across the street
saw...something. " It's a new jet plane of the blackhawk variety", says he. I shiver.  Of course it is. Has to be a new fighter jet out at the base. Testing it they are. I hide my grin behind an open hand, and suddenly I am laughing like an idiot. Norm lets it pass. he sees stranger every day. His wife is a hard core end times proponent. Later I tell her and she responds predictably, knowenly, without hesitation.
"An angel"!  says she,  fiercely, when I reveal what I saw. maybe so, maybe so,
I agree doubtfully, and hang my head, ashamed as usual
for what I am thinking... about this beautiful, long haired, crazy
woman with the button popping figure...maybe so...
